Join us for Sk8 to Elimin8 Cancer fundraiser on Saturday, Feb. 22, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the historic James C. Sheffield Speed Skating Oval in Lake Placid ⛸️⛸️

This year’s event carries special significance as we celebrate the anniversary of Miracle Day, with Olympic Gold Medalist Scott Hamilton joining us for this inspiring occasion! On Feb. 22, 1980, the U.S. Men’s Ice Hockey Team made history with their “Miracle on Ice” victory, a powerful reminder of determination, resilience, and teamwork. These same values drive our mission as we come together to fight cancer.

Sign up today to skate 13 laps on the Olympic Oval, celebrating perseverance, honoring those impacted by cancer, and supporting a future without this disease. You can also sign up to fundraise without skating in the event.

It took eight days for the first baby of 2025 to be born at Adirondack Medical Center, but the wait was worth it, because it was two babies. Not twins, but two babies born 30 minutes apart from mothers who have been friends since they were 10 years old.

The Adirondack Health Foundation has once again received an Uihlein Ironman Sports Fund grant from Adirondack Foundation. This grant allows our Lake Placid Medical Fitness Center to host swim lessons for local children who may not otherwise have the opportunity.

Each year, the lessons serve children from a different local school district with 2024's lessons having welcomed children in grades 3 through 5 from the Saranac Lake district.

The grant provides free transportation during the six weeks of instruction and free lessons.
