The Disability Pride flag is flying high at sites in New York State for Developmental Disability Awareness Month. The meaning?

Each stripe represents something specific:
- Red: Physical Disabilities
- Gold: Neurodiversity
- White: Invisible disabilities and undiagnosed disabilities
- Blue: Emotional and psychiatric disabilities
- Green: Sensory disabilities (visually and hearing impaired and all other sensory disabilities)
The grayish black around the colored stripes commemorates and mourns disabled people who died due to ableism, violence or abuse.
