A 1000 year old temple which reminds us of the era when humans were connected to inner self through nature and art.

The history behind this temple is very interesting and that is what intricate me visit this spiritual place.

The Bhoganandiswara is the oldest surviving temple in Nolambavadi-style of Dravidian architecture in Karnataka, India.
The style that emerged from this period (850–1000 CE) reflects a synthesis of regional Hindu arts, and is now called the Nolambavadi style.

The temple underwent restorations and additions through the Chola Empire period which is dated 10th century.

The site sings the saga of Empires and kingdoms flourish in India at that time.

Every temple has a STORY!

Today's morning visit to Janardanaswamy Temple instricated me to know the story of this beautiful beach town Varkala in south India.

I got to know that the temple is thousand years old and I was mesmerized by the energy, carvings and the beautiful structure

So, the Varkala Janardanaswamy Temple is among the 108 Abhimana Kshethrams, a group of Vaishnavite shrines that are considered among the foremost existing Vishnu Temples, and are repeatedly mentioned in extant ancient texts like the Puranas and Itihasas. The Bhagavata Purana and the Mahabharata .

This July, Ekta and I are opening a sacred space for those ready to journey into the heart of yoga - in India, where this ancient practice was born.

Imagine yourself standing before the awe-inspiring Taj Mahal, visiting ancient temples and sacred ashrams, and breathing in the wisdom of a land that has nurtured seekers for centuries.

Each day will invite you to breathe, move, and be through yoga, pranayama, and meditation - connecting deeply to your breath and finding new stillness and clarity.

You’ll experience the healing magic of Ayurveda with a hands-on cooking class (because food is medicine!) and a deeply restorative Ayurvedic massage designed to awaken your body’s natural intelligence.

We’ll gather as a community for chanting, kirtan, and sacred fire rituals, letting the ancient sounds and ceremonies open our hearts in ways that words can’t describe.

We all face stressful situations!🫠

Whether it's something as extreme as a hurricane or more routine challenges like meeting deadlines, caring for an infant, attending important meetings, or handling emergencies. While we can’t always avoid these situations, what we can control is how we respond to them.,

When we experience stress, the sympathetic nervous system is triggered, putting our body into "fight or flight" mode. As long as the brain perceives the threat, it releases the cortisol hormone, keeping muscles tense and the body on high alert. To reverse this and reduce cortisol levels, activating the parasympathetic nervous system is crucial.

Asanas, breathing techniques, deep breathing, meditation, yoga nidra are all various practices that help combat stress and anxiety.

Many asanas work specifically on the autonomic nervous system, while breathwork helps calm the system and improve mindfulness and presence of mind. Regular practice improves cardiovascular functioning and reduces activity in the limbic system – the part of the brain dedicated to emotions, thus, reducing emotional reactiveness to triggers.

Your habits shape who you are, and breathing practices are no different—it’s all about consistency.
