SHOUTING FROM THE ROOFTOPS ๐ŸŒฌ๐Ÿช„โœจ๏ธ

~ REAL self-care is not a trend. It is a commitment to yourself; to your own connection, your own care, to your own life. It is choosing yourself, including yourself, and living true to yourself.

~ It is showing up for your practice for you, no matter how busy or chaotic life gets. It is saying no to anything that dims your light or drains your spirit.

~ It is standing by yourself and up for yourself; it is being true to your promise, to your own care, even when itโ€™s late, even when youโ€™re tired, even when someone else needs you.

~ It is finding yourself first amidst the chaos
{self-centering} and moving outward from a place of nourishment and balance.

๐Ÿ’ž Because the truth is: community care begins with self-care. ๐Ÿ’ž

When everything and everyone expects us to give out everywhere, it creates an unsustainable demand that inevitably leads to collapse, burnout, and deterioration of health, home, or both.

We cannot sustain life with constant outward contribution and zero inward replenishment. ๐Ÿ’ž

The truth is simple: you must care for yourself first, so you have something real, sincere, and worthwhile to give outward. ๐Ÿ’ž

This is not about the trendy self-care movement that asks for more of your time. ๐Ÿ’ž

๐Ÿ’ž REAL self-care is your non-negotiable, life-sustaining commitment to your own existence. ๐Ÿ’ž
Self-care is not a luxury for the privileged.
It is what makes community care possible.

What I Learned From My Year-Long Health Journey:
๐ŸŒธ
Caring for myself is foundational.
Not a privilege. Not a reward.
Not something I do just so I can be useful to others.
It is a necessary requirement for my health, my well-being, and the quality of my life.
At the bare minimum, it is required for my survival.
๐ŸŒธ
There are moments in my life meant for me & no one else. They are non-negotiable. This is the glue that holds me together; it is what makes me *me*, & no one else.
๐ŸŒธ
Somewhere along the way, โ€œself-care" trends made our own preservation look like a luxury.
But our very existence relies on it.
Your quality of life is not optional.
Your time and energy are nutrients for your body and mindโ€™s regeneration.
Your own care is vital to your renewal.
๐ŸŒธ
Resourcing oneself isnโ€™t reserved only for the lucky ~ itโ€™s available to the willing.
Itโ€™s how we reclaim our lives, sustain our life-force, and call our power back to live more authentically.
๐ŸŒธ
Many of us wait for someone else to bring us the love and care we deserve. But Iโ€™ve learned that I am the only one who can give myself back to myself.
๐ŸŒธ
It doesnโ€™t matter how much time you can give.
You alone [all-one/whole] are enough.
๐ŸŒธ
What matters is the quality of yourself that you bring to the time you have ~ because that quality is the very gift you receive in return.
๐ŸŒธ
We are now called to take responsibility for our well-being; to cultivate rhythms & routines that nourish our lives, families, & communities, adapting & evolving as life seasons change.
๐ŸŒธ
You are the common denominator of every experience, every interaction, every success, & every challenge of your life.
You are the one constant.
This is why you require yourself the most.
๐ŸŒธ
Remember, consistent nourishment doesnโ€™t suddenly make life easier. It makes life feel better.
It makes us better at living it.
๐ŸŒธ
Self-care is essential for everyone.
Itโ€™s not a trend. It's the path that leads us home.
It is our one & only true superpower.
Because:
๐ŸŒธ We are not the survival of the fittest.
๐ŸŒธ We are the survival of the nurtured.
๐ŸŒธ We are the survival of the well-resourced.

You can wear the costume of your higher self, embody your ideals, and shine brightly, but the shadow you refuse to meet still plays the drum that your body dances to involuntarily. ๐Ÿฅ

True growth, healing, and well-being doesnโ€™t come from ignoring or bypassing the parts of ourselves that hurt, freeze, grieve, collapse, get sick, break down, or carry the weight of trauma and loss. It includes the identities shaped in survival, the versions of us forged through illness or injury, and the parts that lived through the dark nights we don't like to talk about.

This is the work I hope to share: deeper embodied integration. Not bypassing, not pretending, not only "love and light", and not only the shadow.

True well-being and optimal health arise from embracing the full spectrum and wisdom of our experiences ~ balancing both light and dark within us. By honoring the entire landscape of who we are, we can move through the world from a place that is real, embodied, and rooted in truth.

This is the fertile ground for the bliss we search for in external things, when in truth, the opportunity has always lived in our own wholehearted welcome of all that we are.

~ When you meet and greet these parts instead of running from them or numbing with work or substance, something profound happens: the drumbeat changes. Your life begins to move to a rhythm that finally belongs to you. ๐Ÿฅ๐ŸŽต

Why We Canโ€™t Just โ€œLet It Goโ€
When they say, โ€œLet it go,โ€
I say, โ€œLet it be.โ€

Some pain doesn't just leave. It requires our willing reception. Our losses, traumas, and inherited grief can settle deep down within us like heavy silt at the bottom of the sea. They reside in the undercurrents of our lives, often unseen & unacknowledged, yet faithfully present.

The Rising:

Sometimes, that pain begins to stir. A whisper, a gust, a memory, an ache of sorrow, a flash of fear. Something rises from the dark depths, pushing through the water, coming up for air. It rises from the bottom to be seen, to be here with us on the surface.

~ Just like someone stranded out in the ocean must let go and surrender to float to the top, they also must be seen and acknowledged to be saved.

Healing canโ€™t happen on the ocean floor.

We must allow the hidden or shamed parts of ourselves to rise to the surface, where the light of our conscious awareness can touch them, & where healing can begin.

There is no rescue in repression, no healing in avoidance. Without our attention, old pain, beliefs and identities, stay in the undercurrent of our lives influencing our perception and life's direction.

The Medicine:
If you can't let it go,
Let it be felt.
Let it be seen.
Let it be held.
Let it be as it is.

We must let it come. Let it be known. Let it be received, offering your presence like a warm hug. Don't try to change it or fix it. Just let it bring its story into this present moment, reminding you that it survived with you & now you can rest together.

~ Like a tree struck by an axe, the mark remains forever. But the tree lives on, growing ring by ring, upward and outward, making the wound part of its living truth.

If you canโ€™t let it go,
Just let it be a part of you. ๐Ÿ‘ฃ๐Ÿ’ง

๐Ÿ‚ The Wisdom of the Metal Element (Autumn)
The Metal Element season of TCM deeply echoes our message to "let it be. This is a time to move beyond forcing release, and instead, align with the natural wisdom of acceptance. By being present with our grief, we find true healing by allowing all parts of our story to simply exist.

Thanks to these amazing inspirations this week. โœจ๏ธ๐Ÿ•Š๐Ÿฉท I am working on a lot behind the scenes. With a new, fresh perspective growing in the dark/ beneath the surface ( beyond what can be seen ). ๐ŸŒฑ Finding & becoming the light in the dark is the real and only work for all of us. ๐ŸŒ  I am both a teacher and a student of life. I learn from everything and everyone around me. I learn when I am right and I learn when I am wrong. I learn from my children, and I learn from my parents. I learn from those who are good to me and from those who are hurtful. I learn from my teachers, and I learn from my students. I learn from nature every day. I learn from the sky and the water, and mostly from the trees. I learn from the dragonflies, the cardinal, and the gator, because I'm willing to be a student of life. I'm willing to see it all and wonder about it all - unwinding the conditioned need to know it all - and be a child of the world again and again, to continue to grow and to learn everyday from the world around me, even if it makes me uncomfortable, or if I had thought differently before. There is always more to discover, and so much wisdom already here within me that I find new when I'm open, present, and curious. ๐Ÿ•Šโœจ๏ธ๐Ÿฉท

Just as good parenting mirrors back to a child that they are lovable, when we understand and accept others, we affirm their intrinsic worth and belonging. To receive this kind of Radical Acceptance can transform our lives. By mirroring back to someone their goodness, we offer a priceless gift, and its blessings ripple out through a lifetime.

Seasons of the Soul ๐Ÿ‘ฃ๐ŸŒฑ๐ŸŒท

Iโ€™ve been thinking a lot lately about how we go through these strange in-between seasons, times when who we used to be just doesnโ€™t fit anymore but who weโ€™re becoming isnโ€™t totally clear yet either.

I went through something like that this year. It felt like a total unraveling, kind of a breakdown of the identity I thought Iโ€™d keep living from. But looking back, I can see it was more of a transition, a dissolving of one version of me so that something truer could take shape.

And it was messy. Itโ€™s still uncomfortable for me. But itโ€™s also necessary. These disorienting times have purpose for me. Theyโ€™re part of my growth process. They carry their own kind of medicine, even if we canโ€™t see it while weโ€™re in it.

We can, however, choose to become aware of the potential that resides within these circumstances, regardless of how that feels for us.

These periods of transition, trauma, loss, darkness, uncertainty, or the unknown arenโ€™t random or wrong. Theyโ€™re actually a part of how we become truer to who we are, more authentically ourselves.

Thatโ€™s what I want to start a conversation around, the idea that our lives move through seasons just like nature does. Each one has its own energy and lessons. And Iโ€™ve been working on a map to help us move through the seasons of the soul with more understanding & support.

Sometimes the hardest moments show us the truth we needed to see. Sometimes the light comes disguised as loss. What feels like breaking can open us to what we couldnโ€™t see or be before. Sometimes the answer doesnโ€™t save what we wanted, it shows us what needed saving. The light doesnโ€™t always come to comfort us; sometimes it comes to awaken us.

The "dark" chapters allow us to drop old skins and outdated lifestyles or beliefs that keep us stuck, stagnant, unaware, or burnt out. They show us what matters most and help us to refresh what is true for us and make changes accordingly.

They are opportunuties to shift our perspective, sometimes to restart from scratch, to help us recognize what our needs are or what needs to change so we can start living in alignment with who we really are & what we really want. ๐ŸŒ—

๐ŸŒฟ "The organs weep the tears the eyes refuse to shed." ๐Ÿ’งโ€“ Sir William Osler

Caroline Myss says it clearly: โ€œYour biography becomes your biology.โ€ โœ๏ธ๐Ÿ“–๐Ÿงฌ

Everything youโ€™ve lived, experienced, and endured ~ your triumphs, your wounds, your stories, your victories, your losses ~ lives with you, literally within you.

Your history is etched into your cells, your tissues, your organs. What you went through then isnโ€™t gone; it is here, shaping how you move, think, feel, and relate now....

~ Childhood experiences leave traces that influence your adult relationships, your self-care, and your sense of worth.

~ Past trauma, neglect, loss, may still echo in your body as tension, hypervigilance, fatigue, or emotional flashbacks. (Me, too).

~ The liver stores anger. The lungs cradle grief. The heart pulses with joy. The spleen stores worry. The kidneys hold fear.

~ Awareness of your own experiences and related patterns is the first step toward reclaiming your whole self; your voice, authority, & sovereignty.

~ What parts of you are signaling, through feeling or sensation, that theyโ€™re ready to be seen, supported, and acknowledged?

~ We donโ€™t need to wait for someone else to heal us ~ we start with our own body, our own breath, our movement, and our own practices & self-care rituals, which are our most accessible tools.

~ We can also get help, but it will be most beneficial to help ourselves first, through ourselves, building a solid and reliable inner foundation.

~ Healing is not a destination; it is a daily practice, a ritual, and an ongoing conversation with yourself. ๐Ÿ’ž ๐Ÿ‘„๐Ÿ‘ฃ

~ I speak as a student and as a teacher; I am learning, practicing, and exploring alongside you, using what I know now, from what I've learned from my own experiences, continued study, and practice.

๐Ÿ’– I know for sure that every act of attention, presence, and self-care reclaims a piece of your story and transforms it into living medicine.

๐ŸŒธ Inner Smile: Bringing Joy From Within ๐ŸŒธ

Our lived experiences carry hidden wisdom, waiting to be transformed into medicine for healing, growth, and connection. ๐ŸŒฑโœจ

Even in seasons of burnout, heartbreak, or exhaustion, what feels heavy can become the compost for new growth. With growth comes grief ~ and with grief comes growth. ๐Ÿ•Š๐Ÿ’ž

Through our bodies, our breath, and our being, we can intentionally cultivate joy and vitality, even in the midst of struggle. Like tending a garden, when we nurture our inner world, the harvest nourishes not only us but those around us. ๐ŸŒท

One practice I love for this is the Inner Smile meditation, an ancient Taoist / Qigong technique. ๐Ÿ’• Smiling energy into your heart, your organs, your whole being ~ anytime, anywhere. Walking, pausing, during yoga, or even in ordinary daily moments.

Itโ€™s not about bypassing pain, but greeting it with care and compassion:
โœจ โ€œI see you. Thank you for carrying me. I am still here. Alive, open to joy, open to grief, open to life.โ€

This is the work Iโ€™m here for: welcoming joy, navigating grief, and sharing the medicine of life. โ˜€๏ธ
