My story:
As an Emergency Physician, I could cure patients of acute illnesses, but I referred them to a pri
mary care physician for chronic conditions. Here, I began my work on the root causes of these now-too-common chronic health issues. I realized that by utilizing a Functional Medicine approach, I can determine the cause of my patient's symptoms, allowing me to prevent further suffering. Who I am:
I am a Board-Certified Family Medicine Physician with over 20 years of clinical experience. I completed two residency programs - Family Medicine in Miami, FL and Emergency Medicine in The Netherlands. After graduating from Poznan University of Medical Sciences in Poland, I worked in multiple healthcare settings-emergency departments, urgent care centers, primary care practices, and mental health facilities in the USA, England, The Netherlands, Aruba, and Poland. I completed a Fellowship in Integrative Psychiatry, was certified in the Walsh protocol for managing mental health conditions, and trained by the Institute of Functional Medicine. I am fluent in Polish, Dutch, Papiamento, and Spanish. I combine my unique cultural background and range of diverse experiences to create personalized, inclusive medical care that combines compassion and competence. My services:
I am passionate about helping people find lasting relief from chronic mental and physical health conditions, including: Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Diabetes, Weight gain, Skin eczema, Allergies, Thyroid problems, Fibromyalgia, Cancer remission, Depression, Anxiety, ADHD, Insomnia, PMS, PMDD, and many other health problems. I create a personalized plan as part of a program to heal your body based on a comprehensive intake, specialized tests, and appropriate clinical insight. I assess: Nutrient deficiencies, Hormonal imbalances, Inflammation markers, Reactions to stress, Potential allergens, Toxin exposure, Gut health, and Genetic predisposition. Integrative wellness:
We practice integrative and functional medicine. Integrative medicine means that we implement an alternative approach to Western medicine. Functional medicine focuses on "why " the disease happened and the root cause of the problem. What makes us different is that we approach our patients and their bodies as a whole. While treating the patient, we perform comprehensive diagnostics; we test and don't guess. Alongside the diagnostic tests, we implement diet and lifestyle changes, address physical, emotional, and dietary stressors, and use nutraceuticals. We are also very open to collaboration with our patients’ primary care physician or other specialists. Advice would you give to someone interested in pursuing:
Take control of your health and well-being. Investing in your health is the most affordable investment because being sick costs money. America spends trillions of dollars on healthcare, which focuses on the disease management model rather than on the root cause of medicine. Among 10 high-income nations, the United States spends the most on health care and, for that money, gets the worst health outcomes. So, if you want to live a happy and healthy life, I encourage you to be your own health advocate and take action. Successful story:
I have witnessed many inspirational success stories involving the implementation of functional medicine approaches that have changed people's lives. My personal health story inspired me to start practicing functional medicine, and my health improved with root-cause medicine. I have many inspiring stories, and one in particular was a patient who came to me with severe arthritis, back pain, and depression. She was on multiple medications for pain, depression, anxiety, and insomnia. After 6 months with us, her pain level was reduced by 80%. When we met, she was limited to 1 hour of activity of daily living per day, and, after following my protocol, is now able to bike ride and is not depressed anymore. Since her brain health improved and her pain subsided, she did not need so many pharmaceuticals anymore. How people Respond to practices:
We often get inquiries from people who have never experienced functional medicine, and they are curious about the treatment costs and their involvement in the process. I emphasize education and start this process before they see us at the clinic. I host seminars in the community on functional medicine to set expectations. The most important aspect of functional medicine is our role in a patient's healing journey. I will partner with and educate you, but you must actively participate in your healing journey. Your health starts in your own kitchen. I am not here to provide a quick fix that is neither lasting nor addresses the root of the issue. I am here to guide you, and you need to be involved in the whole process, including lifestyle, diet, and stress management. The other important aspect is the cost. Since insurance companies do not cover the costs of Functional Medicine, we are a cash-based practice. This allows me to choose your treatment plan based on what you need and not what your insurance pays for. Again, I am bringing up the topic of health investment since your health is your wealth.
