Repost from Modern Homesteading]
β€’
Homesteading is not easy. There are days and even seasons where things go wrong (I buried 11 chics this week due to a freak storm that rolled in and blew rain sideways into a brooder area we'd used before and never had issues).

If you stick with it long enough, you'll find yourself questioning why you're doing it and if it's worth it a time or two.

This is why it's SO IMPORTANT to surround yourself with others who are on this path. Those who are doing this and have been.

It's one of the reasons I became the editor of Homestead Living Magazine (and Joel Salatin from writes a column for us and this quote is from his column for our inaugural issue).

A lot of sources will have how-to's (and never fear, so does the magazine) but few cover the emotional side, the hard side because it does exist.

If you need inspiration and answers to pain points, I HIGHLY recommend you grab the first issue here (link in profile Modern Homesteading] ) of the magazine HTTPs://homesteadliving.com/Melissa

The annual subscription is 30% and we have some special things planned for annual subscribers as bonuses this year.☺

What has been a large pain point for you on your homestead journey?

Did You Know?... πŸ€“
The King’s holly, or lomatia plant, has a unique way of reproducing. The plant drops its branches that form its own roots system to become its own plant, and the new plant has identical DNA as the parent plant.
King’s holly only exists in Tasmania and is gravely endangered. The way the King’s holly reproduces makes it difficult for the holly to form a defense against diseases and predators.

Food Forest Fact Friday! β˜‘οΈπŸŒŽ

What is a π™π™–π™§π™™π™žπ™£π™šπ™¨π™¨ π™―π™€π™£π™š? Hardiness zones are growing zones around the globe specified by their temperature ranges and more specifically their lowest temperature points.

Knowing your hardiness zone and the zones that a plant can be adapted to informs you of the types of plants you can grow in your area weather-wise.

Your hardiness zone is a component of building a successful and enriched food forest for you, which is why our expert designers here at Food Forest Abundance are well versed in these zones. To talk to a designer about a design that works best for you, visit: info.foodforestabundance.com!

Food Forest Fact Friday! β˜‘οΈπŸ‚

What is 'π˜Ύπ™π™€π™₯ 𝙖𝙣𝙙 π˜Ώπ™§π™€π™₯'? The term 'chop and drop' is the act of cutting or pruning leave or woody matter from your plants and dropping them on the ground to build up the organic matter layer of the soil.

Think of it as recycling plants in order to nurture the soil that promotes the growth coming in!
