Top Summer Tips for Hearing Aid Users

✔️ Watch the Moisture: Sweat, humidity, and poolside fun can affect your devices. Use a drying kit or dehumidifier overnight.
✔️ Be Sunscreen Smart: Avoid getting lotion or spray on your hearing aids—it can clog microphone ports.
✔️ Keep Them Cool: Don’t leave your devices in direct sun or a hot car. Heat can damage batteries and circuits.

MEET THE TEAM :) Dr. Vicky Moore

Dr. Victoria Moore (Vicky) serves as President as well as Lead Audiologist at The Hearing Spa. She moved to the USA from England in 1991 and has been serving the communities of Sarasota and Bradenton for over 20 years. Her independent audiology practice focuses on adult hearing loss, tinnitus management, as well as Cochlear Implant services.

She is a board-certified Audiologist by the American Board of Audiology and also holds her Board Certification in Hearing Instrument Sciences. She completed her post baccalaureate work in communication sciences and disorders at the University of South Florida and earned her Doctorate of Audiology from Missouri State University. Dr. Moore completed her residency with a large ENT group. In this role, she was exposed to a variety of medical conditions related to hearing and balance and was an integral part in the diagnosis and treatment of these conditions.She has extensive clinical experience in diagnostic audiological evaluations and programming/ adjusting hearing devices.

As one of the owners of one of the few local independent audiological practices, Dr. Moore is skilled in fitting and adjusting Phonak, Oticon Signia, Resound, Widex and other leading brands of hearing instruments. She is also a certified Lyric provider. She works with all three FDA approved leading Cochlear Implant manufacturers (Advanced Bionics, Cochlear America, Med EL).Dr. Moore was voted Audiologist of the year 2013/2014 and is an active member of the Hearing Loss Association. She is a fellow of the American Academy of Audiology and has earned her Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology from The American Speech Language Hearing Association (ASHA). Dr. Moore regularly speaks at and attends professional and continuing education seminars and conferences.

She was interviewed and featured in the book Cochlear Implant Basics: What a Candidate For a Cochlear Implant Needs to Know discussing the importance of your Audiologist after cochlear implant surgery. Outside of the office, Dr. Moore enjoys spending time with her husband and two children.

MEET THE TEAM :)

Noel is Vice President of Hearing Aid Systems, Inc. and is a Licensed Hearing Aid Specialist. He completed his studies through the International Institute for Hearing Instrument Sciences becoming Nationally Board Certified in Hearing Instrument Sciences.

Noel also obtained his Certified Audioprosthologist qualification through the American Conference of Audioprosthology. He has many years of experience with a wide selection of hearing instrument manufacturers.

Before moving to the USA from England in 1991 Noel worked for the British Government in research and development and was associated with the Institute of Aviation Medicine.

MEET THE TEAM :)

Shannin has been a valued member of The Hearing Spa team for over 12 years. Shannin is The Hearing Spa’s Audiology Technician and sees patients for hearing aid cleanings, repairs, BlueTooth troubleshooting and counseling. She also handles most of the insurance billing for the company and works with patients who have billing questions. Lastly, she also works with the manufacturers on a daily basis.

Shannin was born and raised in Florida. She has spent over 25 years in the medical field, before joining The Hearing Spa she worked in primary care medicine. In her free time, Shannin enjoys doing photography, spending time with her two daughters traveling, going to theme parks and the beach. She also enjoys attending her daughter’s basketball games.

Dr. Moore has been recognized as a 2025 Academy Scholar. Through her dedication to the field of audiology and her commitment to continued professional excellence, she has achieved the status of a 2025 Academy Scholar. Academy Scholars are those who complete a total of 50 continuing education hours (5.0 CEUs hours) over a two-year period. The American Academy of Audiology is pleased to honor her for achieving the status of a 2025 Academy Scholar throughout 2023 and 2024.

MEET THE TEAM :)

Audrey Gaskill is a fourth-year Doctor of Audiology student from Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana. Originally from Indiana, she moved to Fort Lauderdale, FL with her parents and siblings in 2015. In 2022, she completed her Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders with a minor in Aging Sciences at the University of South Florida. During her time in graduate school, she has served as Vice President and President of her school's Student Academy of Audiology (SAA) chapter, the Indiana SAA State Ambassador, and part of the East Central Indiana AHEC Scholars program. Additionally, she volunteered for the national SAA Communications Committee and the Educational Audiology Association (EAA) student task force.

She has developed independence in diagnostic testing, amplification and counseling from clinical experiences at several placements throughout graduate school. Audrey enjoys all aspects of the field of audiology, especially advocating and helping patients hear better. When she is not working, Audrey enjoys going to the beach and Disney World, watching hockey and football, playing golf, reading and spending time with her family and friends.
