We’re proud to share that Sunnyside Village has been awarded the Governor’s Gold Seal Award for Excellence in Long-Term Care — one of Florida’s highest honors for quality care and resident satisfaction.

During a special reception on our campus, CEO Heather Neff and Director of Health Services Jason Brunner accepted the award on behalf of our incredible team. This recognition is given to only a select group of long-term care communities across the state that demonstrate exceptional performance, compassionate care, and strong leadership.

We are so grateful for our team, our residents, and the families who trust us every day. 💛

Our residents had such a wonderful time with Tim Walsh from The Playmakers!

He shared the fascinating story “Laughter and Longevity: The Life of Eddie Goldfarb” celebrating the creative genius behind so many classic toys, including the Yakity-Yak Talking Teeth, KerPlunk, Battling Tops, and Vac-U-Form. The joy, laughter, and nostalgia these toys brought generations sparked so many smiles and conversations throughout the room.

We’re grateful to Tim for bringing this inspiring and lighthearted program to our residents!

🎉✨ Happy 70th to our wonderful Chaplain, Jarvis Hochstedler! ✨🎉

Residents and staff gathered to celebrate this special milestone with songs, plenty of dad jokes (of course 😉), and a giant cookie cake to top it all off.

We’re so grateful for Chaplain Jarvis’s kindness, laughter, and steady presence in our community. Here’s to many more years of joy and wisdom! 💙🙏

Our residents at Sunnyside Village had an absolute blast with The The Garbage-Men! 🌟

This amazing band brought their “trash-to-tunes” magic right to Sunnyside Village—playing classics on instruments made from recycled materials like cereal boxes, PVC pipes, and even trash cans. The creativity, energy, and toe-tapping music had everyone smiling, clapping, and singing along. 💃🕺

We’re so thankful to The Garbage-Men for sharing their talents and showing us how music and sustainability can come together in such a fun way. 💚♻️

We had a fantastic turnout as Art Smith from Seniors vs. Crime spoke to a group of nearly 70 residents about staying alert and protecting themselves from scams. His presentation was followed by a valuable Q&A session, where he addressed residents’ specific concerns.

A big thank you to Art for generously sharing his time and expertise!

We recently had the honor of welcoming a truly special guest – the daughter of Count Nicholas, one of the most iconic circus ringmasters of his time! Her captivating presentation took us behind the curtain of Sarasota’s rich circus legacy, sharing personal stories, rare insights, and a deep connection to the magic that once filled the big top.

As the daughter of a circus legend, Ms. Bonnie (Nicholas) Shine reminded us why Sarasota is often referred to as the Circus Capital of the World. Ms. Shine also served as the long-term Lunch Coordinator at our partner organization, Sarasota Christian School.

This memorable event was made possible through the support of the Sunnyside Foundation, whose continued commitment to enriching our community experiences is deeply appreciated.

Thank you to everyone who joined us in celebrating this piece of our local heritage!
