Both tongue ties and lip ties involve restricted oral tissues that may affect how a baby feeds, swallows and even breathes. While they can appear similar, they impact the mouth in different ways:
Tongue Tie → Restricts the tongue’s movement, making it harder to breastfeed, swallow, or breathe clearly.
Lip Tie → Restricts the upper lip, making it difficult for babies to fl**ge outward for a proper latch during breastfeeding.
Common symptoms include:
– Difficulty latching
– Prolonged or frequent feeding sessions
– Clicking or smacking sounds while feeding
– Fussiness, gassiness, or swallowing excess air
– Pain or discomfort for breastfeeding moms
The good news? Both can be treated to help your baby feed better, grow better, and thrive.
