📢 SCAM ALERT 📢 PLEASE SHARE 📢 We’ve been receiving reports about a scam call making the rounds. People are telling us they’ve received a call from someone pretending to be “Officer” or “Detective Robert Sanchez” from the Sarasota Police Department. The number even shows up on caller ID as ours, (941) 263-6773.

The scammer says there’s a criminal charge or ticket in your name and demands cash to avoid being arrested. Here’s the important part: The Sarasota Police Department will NEVER call and demand money, gift cards or payment of any kind to avoid arrest.

If you receive a call like this, hang up immediately. If you’re unsure whether it’s legitimate, call us directly at (941) 263-6773 to verify.
