I haven't posted on my page since we decided to move out of beautiful Portland, OR in July 2015 for my husband's work. We loved living in the Northwest for its natural beauty, hot springs, great restaurants, vineyards, mountains, and many other reasons. One of the reasons was to be with our friends from Cambridge, MA who had moved there when we were still living in the UK in 1993. In Oregon, we met amazing people who became dear friends through the French Alliance, International club, my work, friends of friends, our neighbors in the Laurelhurst neighborhood, the macrobiotic community and Tai Chi/GiGong communities.
Needless to say, I miss them all so much. It is not easy to make dear friends quickly, but we are starting to adjust day after day to our new Southern lifestyle in Florida. We take it a day at a time, learning to know the area, and to discover and to enjoy what Sarasota has to offer culturally such as music, art, international movies and other things.
In the last 27 years out of my birth country, Lebanon, I had to start my business five times. It is a challenging procedure. I am starting to run out of ideas in how to go out, network, meet new people, introduce myself and acclimate myself with the different culture. Yes, culture does change from state to state In the U.S.
I am writing today to ask you dear friends, clients and family members to keep me in your positive thoughts and prayers. I would also like to ask you if possible to introduce me to friends and acquaintances you have in the Sarasota area. Some of you have already done that. Because of you, I am meeting very nice and diverse people. Thank you very much.
Today, I decided to go out and look at some furniture and lighting shops (one of my favorite hobbies). I met a sweet Polish woman in one of the shops. While at her shop, she asked me where I styled my curly haircut. We started talking and "voila." She introduced me to her hairdresser, her massage therapist and her friend who does facials. They all are from Poland. I call that a great networking day.
Happy Holiday season and have a relaxing Thanksgiving.
With much love,
