🎃 Halloween is tomorrow! That means it’s time to get ready for trick-or-treating! 🍬👻
For children with Selective Mutism (SM), Halloween can bring extra anxiety, but with a proactive plan, SM doesn’t have to stop the fun!
Trick-or-Treat Tickets are a great way to celebrate your child’s bravery and help them feel proud of their efforts. You can even create some fun tickets with your child!
Here are a few more tips to make the night a success:
1️⃣ Talk with your child about what they’re excited for and what might make them nervous.
2️⃣ Set clear, achievable goals together, and plan a fun reward for their bravery!
3️⃣ Practice, practice, practice! Try role-playing at home with family or walking around the neighborhood to build confidence.
4️⃣ If your child gets stuck, go back to the last place of success or take a short break away from the crowd to reset.
5️⃣ Give labeled praise throughout the night, “I love how brave you were at that door!”
We hope you have a safe and fun Halloween!
