nationwide there is a critical shortage of sexual assault nurse examiners (SANEs)?

At Sarasota Memorial, our forensic program has more than 40 SANE-trained nurses who have been providing compassionate, expert care to survivors of sexual assault and violence for over a decade — offering support, guidance and resources every step of the healing journey.

💬 “In many cases, adults are not required to report sexual assault to law enforcement. But it’s important for survivors to know they can still access care, resources, and critical support,” says Elizabeth Kovach, RN, board-certified Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner and coordinator of Sarasota Memorial’s forensic program. “When they come to the ER, they can choose what they would like to do — and it’s our job to support them in those decisions.”

🙌 Paige received recognition for her exceptional care of a respiratory care patient. The patient's family and the hospice team nominated her for the Daisy Award, commending her kind and compassionate care in helping the patient to remain comfortable and at peace. "She made sure not only was our grandfather taken care of, but also every family member. We are so thankful for him to have been under her care," said the patient's loved one.
