On August 28, 1963, Martin Luther King, Jr. delivered his landmark “I Have a Dream” speech from the Lincoln Memorial at the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom. It was an homage to President Abraham Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address and also aimed to pay tribute to the centennial anniversary of the Emancipation Proclamation (signed Jan. 1, 1863). We honor him, his legacy, and his hope for a better way today.
