We are all interconnected. We could learn much from nature🤗

Trees talk to each other underground.

And they feed their dying neighbors.

This is the 'Wood Wide Web.'

-> Tree roots connect through mycorrhizal fungi (tiny fungal threads in the soil)
-> These fungal networks link EVERY tree in a forest
-> Trees send carbon, nitrogen, water, and defense signals through the network
-> Mother trees (the largest, oldest) send resources to seedlings — especially THEIR offspring
-> Sick trees receive nutrients from healthy neighbors
-> Dying trees dump their remaining carbon into the network — a final gift

Researcher Suzanne Simard discovered:

-> Douglas firs send carbon to paper birches in summer (when birches are shaded)
-> Paper birches send carbon to Douglas firs in spring (when firs are still dormant)
-> They TRADE resources based on who needs them most
-> The forest is not a competition — it's a COMMUNITY

What this means for YOU:

-> Clearcutting destroys the entire fungal network
-> Monoculture tree plantations lack these connections
-> Old-growth forests have the most developed networks
-> When you cut the oldest tree, you cut the network's HUB

They're not just standing there.

They're feeding each other.
Warning each other.
Dying for each other.
