Performing vision exams for young children is an area in which we excel. We identify and treat core issues before they disrupt children’s learning opportunities and personal growth.

The American Optometric Association recommends that children get their eyes (and we go beyond just the eyes) checked at the following intervals:

• Between 6-12 months old (See InfantSEE® Vision Evaluations, below)
• Age 3 (or when a child begins preschool)
• Age 5 (or when beginning Kindergarten)
• Then once each year from ages 6-18

"My little girl was having migraines almost every day. We had tried everything! Like, any kind of specialist you can name. Anyway, although we’d been to a pediatric ophthalmologist we hadn’t tried a pediatric optometrist yet, so we came to see Dr. Gardner. We ended up having our little girl do vision therapy at Achieve and it helped her so much. She very rarely has headaches now, and in fact we’ve been able to figure out what triggers the ones she still gets now and then. She also is a better reader now. We loved all the people she worked with during that process. We’re so grateful to Dr. Gardner and everyone at Achieve who helped us FINALLY find answers to help my daughter."

Check out these RightEye results from our recent patient!

In her eye tracking images before vision therapy, we see a lot of jerky and messy eye movements. No wonder reading was so difficult and draining! Now her eye tracking is much smoother, and her RightEye score jumped from a red zone 19 to a green zone 79. We are so proud of her progress and success!

👁👂👄🤚👃👅... Discord in any of our senses can lead to learning challenges, as well as disruptive behavior, poor mental health, physical pain, etc.

Learning is supported by the effective integration of and communication between nine primary sensory systems. In concert, they create our cognitive experiences. When any of these systems send conflicting information to the brain, sensory interference causes disruption to the learning process, which can manifest as confusion, insecurity, discomfort, pain, avoidance, or other detractors to effective learning. Beyond hindering our learning, these effects can lead to behavioral challenges and/or mental health struggles – especially in children and teenagers.
