Therapy works best when this one thing is right — and it’s not what you think.
It’s not the type of therapy or the letters after your therapist’s name. It’s the relationship.
Research calls it the “therapeutic alliance” — the trust, safety, and teamwork between you and your therapist. When you have a good relationship with your therapist, feel understood, and you’re working toward shared goals, outcomes improve dramatically.
So when choosing a therapist, ask yourself:
👉 Do I feel comfortable with this person?
👉 Do I feel heard?
👉 Do we agree on what we’re working toward?
👉 Does their approach make sense to me?
The best therapy isn’t just a technique — it’s a partnership. 💬
