We are so delighted to embark on this journey with you. The services that we provide at PBJ & Friends are dear to our heart and became an inspiration to our family when our son, Tyson, was born. At birth, Tyson was diagnosed with Hemimegalencephaly. After hundreds of seizures, he had two brain surgeries and a shunt placed due to hydrocephalus. At the age of 8, Tyson was also diagnosed with Autism. During that time, we were introduced to applied behavior analysis (ABA), which would change our world. Tyson is now 16 years old and the light of our lives. Tyson has acquired social and communication skills over these past years by learning and practicing skills in social contexts with peers and technicians, who have been his greatest cheerleaders! His new level of skills has allowed our family to experience more freedom in new ways and places, far surpassing our thoughts of what was possible. We can now go out to eat as a family (and have fun!), go to amazing places like Disney World (which was a dream come true for Tyson), and watch as Tyson enjoys being autonomous and making his own decisions, and even being in charge of the TV remote all by himself. These are small pleasures that mean the world to our son and our family. The inspiration for opening PBJ & Friends came as a result of seeing a great need in our area for other families to access the same services that blessed our lives. And the inspiration for our name needs no introduction, as PBJ's are Tyson’s favorite sandwich and makes perfect sense why his friends would want to come here! We can’t wait to meet you...we are so excited to have your family grow with us!
