PROJECTS OF LOVE

Residents can often be found in the art room working on many different art concepts. With a wide variety of art supplies available, there is always creativity on display. Many residents enjoy creating art pieces as gifts for others or even for decor in their homes.

Today a group of ladies were working on stain glass projects. These are so much fun to watch. The ladies use all kinds of tools and grinders to shape the colorful pieces of art. Laying them out in detail and carving the glass with such precision, is simply amazing.

Members at Prestwick Chase, love learning different art techniques. To be able to relax with friends, chat away and watch the art forms come into being, is magnificent. Thank you ladies today for sharing your on going pieces with the world to see.

HOME STRETCH

Prestwick Chase hosted a Travers Watch Party in the High Rock Bar. Residents were treated to a variety of food platter delights. Saratoga Sunrise drinks were made at the bar for everyones enjoyment. There was plenty of track themed decorations to mark the famous weekend race at Saratoga Race Track.

The residents had a blast celebrating this major end of summer event. Prior to the big weekend, some residents went over to the track for a back stretch tour of the facilities. This allowed them to get an up close experience with the horses, jockey's and staff.

Thank you to all the residents who attended these events and to the staff of the Saratoga Race Track. What a way to mark the end of summer!!

THE LADIES BREAKFAST CLUB

This morning ladies came down to enjoy breakfast together in the Curtain Call Cafe. They meet on Saturdays at 10am. This event hosted by the Chef's is a fantastic way to start the weekend at Prestwick. The ladies are treated to a wide variety of breakfast delights.

This event helps so many new residents build lasting friendships. We are all use to our set routines in life and moving into a new community is a huge change. Sometimes that new change can feel overwhelming. Think back to grade school, remember that first time on the bus, that first time walking into the cafeteria and that feeling of "where do i sit, where is my place in this.."

The social activities are geared towards having that answer to those kinds of questions when settling into a new environment. So the answer becomes not where do i sit, but "i cant wait to get there to see so and so. To have a cup of coffee or tea with my new friends and relax. After a couple of times of coming down to this event, before you know it, you are part of............... THE LADIES BREAKFAST CLUB.

MUSIC IS IN THE AIR

A huge benefit to Prestwick Chases location is that it is near S**C, (Saratoga Performing Arts Center). Many concerts come into the area for people to take in. Right now the Philadelphia Orchestra is here with multiple shows available to the public.

Amy the Activities Coordinator knows how much the residents love these concerts. She makes sure that residents can take in multiple shows if they like during summer. On this particular occasion, members of the community headed over to S**C and watched the Gershwin & Bernstein concert.

It was such a beautiful evening to sit in the center and take in this elegant night of music. The majesty of this music brought smiles to their faces. We look forward over the next week to more shows by the orchestra, for everyone to enjoy.

THE WARM UP

Residents got up very early to enjoy a breakfast put on at the Saratoga Race Track. With the track being so close to Prestwick Chase, what better way to start a summer morning. Watching the jockeys warm up the horses with galloping passes, is truly magical.

The bright flowers, the dark green grass and reddish hue of the dirt on the track is indeed a sight to be seen. What makes this activity so much fun is actually being there before all the crowds rush in to watch Premier Horse Racing.

We love taking our residents over for this delightful way to start their day. Thank you to the staff of the track for their hospitality and for the residents who attended this wonderful tradition in Saratoga.

TWO SCOOPS PLEASE

No matter how hot it might be outside, there is that one item we will brave the heat for every time and that is ice cream. Residents visited a nearby ice cream shop to indulge in the tasty sweet treats. It is so funny how we all have our eyes widen big when deciding, cone, cup, sprinkles, nuts, whip cream or chocolate syrup. One of those real hard arm twisting decisions isn't it?

Then we gather around the tables and have the same childhood grin, as we did the first time we tried ice cream. What is so unique to this favorite past time is the fact we all do not really deviate to much from that one favorite flavor we liked when we all were little kids. Maybe this is one of the hidden keys to maintaining joy in the life.

That although we walk through the passing of time, we need only to remember to never forget what it was like to be a kid. To never forget sitting down with mom and dad, swinging our feet under the picnic table while enjoying that ice cream. The asking of a sibling, "Can i try yours?". The fun moment of getting into the car and we all still remember what was the magic phrase to the prelude of having this sweet delight? We all said.....I scream, you scream, we all scream for ICE CREAM.

LIFE WIDE OPEN

It is truly amazing to see the bonds forged with the staff and residents of Prestwick Chase. Often the staff encounters the residents outside at many shops, parks and events. The best part is always the instant smile that appears on both parties faces upon seeing each other. The simple reason actually is that there is NOT a difference between the two because we are family.

Whether it's the Activities Dir Amy heading to the track with them, Noah the Restaurant Supervisor playing a round of golf with them or John the Resident Relations Manager going in a boat fishing with them, it's about the fun of knowing the residents are truly family to us.

Hearing the stories of residents lives, experiences , situations and watching them light up as they tell you, is a joy. It gives a whole new meaning to "when the shift ends, is when the friendship begins". But what if the shifts end is not work? They say when you love what you do, its never work. This rings so true at Prestwick Chase.

We the staff are blessed to be around them whether it is at the actually property or outside of it when our paths intersect like country crossroads. A photo does catch a moment in time. However, its the daily interactions, that leads to the the movie reel, that is Prestwick Chase. Come join us and add your frame by frame to our big picture!

A SUMMER DAY DREAM

A beautiful summer day at Prestwick Chase is in full swing. With over a hundred acres, the property is surrounded by gentle rolling green fields. Multiple ponds and fountains adorn the grounds. They invite one to relax and breath in the fresh countryside air.

Residents garden boxes are filled with blooming flowers. The colors are so vibrant and draw in our little bee friends who are busy pollinating in the radiant sun. There is an abundant bird life population residing around the grounds. It is common place to see Blue Heron, a King Fisher diving at the water, Blue Birds and even our very own metal owl detecting the slightest breeze.

Whether you are sitting in Adirondack chairs, the cottage patios, benches or your very own screened in porch, its all about relaxation. Its feeling the warmth of the summer sun smiling down on you and knowing, we did it! We worked hard in life, we made it through the ups and downs and now we are here at Prestwick Chase. A place to have your very own....summer day dream.

ROAD REPAVING PROJECT

Prestwick Chase just completed a major road way project this past week. After 25 years of wear and tear from mother nature, it was time to do a total resurfacing of all road ways. The streets and all parking lots were milled down to their base level. All new asphalt was brought in by contractor, smoothed out and new seal coating applied. The striping came out perfect around all the property vehicle spaces.

The residents were a big help and the staff, with moving the cars in mass each day. It was amazing to see a project this size done in a weeks time. Everyone is enjoying the silky smooth ride.

Our very own General Manager, Kellie Postlethwaite, was seen on a rolling machine as she loves to know how things work. She is no stranger to using heavy equipment around the property. Whether its plows, mowing tractors or even a bulldozer. If it has wheels and rolls, she is going to try it. Thank you to everyone involved, it was a job well done!!

HAPPY 4TH OF JULY

Prestwick Chase would like to wish all our residents, their families, their friends and our staff a very Happy 4th of July. We hope the day is filled with joy and great fireworks to see for everyone. We remember that our Freedom is never free. Happy Birthday America!!

MULLIGAN CLASSIC

iHeartMedia Radio Station held a Mulligan Classic Golf Tournament at McGregor Links Country Club. The course was located in Wilton, New York. The majority of players were part of local Retirement Planning Groups for the region.

Prestwick Chase who works with iHeartMedia, entered in a group of players to participate in the festivities. Our very own Maintenance Department saw Joel and Austin give it their best in the tournament. They wore the Prestwick Chase logo shirts as a team, competing against over 15 foursome groupings. We are happy to report, they took 1st Place!!!! They posed for a group photo with trophies in hand. Way to go gentleman, we applaud you.

ROOSEVELT VISITS PRESTWICK CHASE

Residents of Prestwick were treated to a visit from Franklin D. Roosevelt, impersonator Gary Stamm. The FDR presentation was held in Congress Hall at Prestwick. A fitting name for this historical show.

Gary's uncanny likeness to Roosevelt in appearance, voice and even body language was incredible. He had full command of the residents attention with his speech. Many of the residents remarked that they remember hearing Roosevelt leading up to and during World War II. They said Gary's performance was spot on and they felt truly in the midst of the President.

Thank you to all who attended this memorable speech at Prestwick. Special thank you for Gary Stamm making this possible. He is in high demand giving shows across the nation. He is also known for doing voice overs of Jack Benny and Yogi Bear. We applaud you greatly Gary!!
