THE GILDED AGE

Residents of Prestwick attended a brown bag lunch presentation of The Gilded Age of Saratoga. The presentation was given by Charlie Kuenzel, a well know historian on Saratoga Springs. This lecture discussed the abundance of wealth, fashion styles and what made Saratoga the summer place for the ultra wealthy. It truly was an intriguing event as the presenters wore the style clothes of that time period.

Prestwick Chase is truly fortunate to be so close to so many cultural learning possibilities for all ages. Whether it be musical, historical or architectural, there is something for everyone! Our resident community has a great abundance of local events like this one to attend. The learning never stops and we love that!

THE HONOR IS OURS

Prestwick Chase was blessed to be able to honor our veterans. Those who served were invited down to the High Rock Bar for a special complimentary breakfast. As they entered they were pinned with a red carnations. There was decorations and cards at their tables, saying how grateful we our for their service. We are so proud of all of them and their willingness to serve this nation. Whether in peace time or in war, they are all cherished.

Let us all remember that the freedoms we enjoy today, did not come free. That these men and women heard a greater call and answered that call, for all of us. "WE THE PEOPLE", thank you and are eternally in your debt.

THE GATHERING

Residents gathered together in their best costumes to celebrate Halloween. Congress Hall was transformed by the staff into a Halloween Cave. There was live music, all kinds of finger foods and drinks for everyone to enjoy. The staff dressed up as well to join in the fun.

There was a costume contest and prizes were handed out. There were even dogs dressed up as skunks, for their own little parade at the desk, which was hilarious. For many new residents, this was their first time to attend our Halloween Party. Everyone had a fantastic time and there was plenty of laughs to go around.

Special thank you to the Chefs for the delicious foods, the managers and the housekeeping staff who helped decorate the place. It was a team effort. Amy the Dir. of Activities pulled off one heck of a ghoulish good time.

THE HAUNTING

It is that time of year, with the leaves gone on the trees, black cats crossing your paths and the stories of Halloween hauntings. Residents went on a tour of the Canfield Casino in Saratoga Springs. The staff of the casino have reported over the years that there are many unusual paranormal activities that occur. The location was featured on television by Ghost Hunters and was listed #4 by the Travel Channel for most terrifying places in America for hauntings.

This was a true halloween experience for members of Prestwick Chase. We are happy to report they all returned and no ghosts got them!! Thank you to the staff of the Canfield Casino for this intriguing experience.
