Sometimes when I listen to a new song, something awakens in me — a deep, wordless communication between the music and a part of my being. There’s no clear awareness of what this exchange is about; no memories arise — only raw emotions shapeshifting within my body.

I find myself looping the song, listening again and again, staying present as an attentive yet clueless witness. I hold and soothe my body as it processes waves of pain, sadness, and grief.

I don’t know whether it’s the melody or the words that stir this — and perhaps it doesn’t matter. What matters is that something long hidden in the darkness of my subconscious finally feels seen, resonating with the vibration of the song.

As the music holds me, the emotions soften, are felt, and then gently released. And curiously, once that happens, the song loses its hypnotic power — as if its work within me is complete.
