It is often overlooked that many of us are never formally taught what constitutes normal bladder function. You might find yourself wondering how often you should be urinating or if it is normal to push while peeing. These are important questions, yet the answers are frequently treated as common sense when they are not.

If your urinary habits differ from established norms, it may be an indication of pelvic floor dysfunction. Please contact Poppy Physical Therapy if you would like to discuss this further or schedule a consultation.

Are you experiencing bowel issues, gas, bloating, abdominal distension, or pain?

Properly chewing your food can be a simple yet effective way to improve these symptoms.

Chewing increases saliva production, which contains essential digestive enzymes that begin the breakdown of your food. This process reduces the workload on your stomach and small intestine. When food enters the small intestine without being properly digested, it can lead to gas, bloating, and discomfort.

Furthermore, thorough chewing allows your body to be able to better absorb nutrients.

So slow down and chew each bite!

Remember... Leaking is common, but it is NOT normal. If you experience leaking while laughing, coughing, sneezing, or during physical activity, it is a sign that your pelvic floor needs support. With spring allergies and more frequent outdoor activity, these unwanted issues can become more prominent.

Please know that this is something you can address. You shouldn't have to cross your legs every time you sneeze, and regardless of your stage in life, change is possible.

There is so much we can do to help. It is time to stop dismissing these symptoms and start working toward a solution.

Do your hips constantly feel tight but stretching doesn't fix the problem? Do you have hip pain that won't go away? Well, you might have an underlying pelvic floor issue.
- The pelvic floor and the deep hip muscles are located right next to one another
- They work together to help assist with pelvic/hip movement and stability
- Because they work together that also means that when one stops working properly, a different muscle has to pick up the slack.
- In order to get the full picture we cannot just assess one thing.

At Poppy PT we do a full body assessment to determine the root cause of your symptoms in order to find lasting relief.

Pessaries:
Do you have symptoms of pressure, bulging, or discomfort in the pelvic region? A pessary might be the answer for you.

What is a pessary?
A pessary is a small, soft device made of silicone placed in the va**na to support the pelvic organs and ease symptoms of pelvic organ prolapse.

Should I consider a pessary?
A pessary fitting can help provide relief from heaviness or bulging and can also help with leaking. It is a relatively simple, non-invasive solution to improve symptoms and get back to doing the things you love

Stress incontinence is very common and can happen for a lot of reasons, but you do not have to live with it.

Urethral sphincter weakness, pelvic floor weakness, poor pressure management, difficulty with ground reaction forces, prolapse. Those are just a few of the things we can assess to determine what is causing her leaking.

If this is you, we can help!
