Do you find that the months are speeding by....I can't believe that we are 12 days into May, with that being said I have one more belated birthday for April that I want to acknowledge these pups and parents for their love and devotion to their fur charges.

I am so very proud of "Winnie" and her mom Melissa 👍 in trying a new dog sport. This team has done so well together in dog sports. They have Titles in Obedience, Scent Work, Tricks, CGC, Therapy and few points away from finishing their BCAT. It just shows the versatility of the PVR pups. Well done "Team Winnie"🎉👏

PVR and our wonderful owners worked very hard last year with many dogs giving them the opportunity to be the best they can be for 2025 and into 2026. We try to look at each Pup/Adult and determine what sports they would enjoy partaking in!
So, far the top activities in dog sports are: Star Puppy, Hunt Tests, Fit Dog, Scent Work, Nosework, Obedience, Therapy, Trick Dog and FastCat.
It appears that in 2026, many of those pups will continue to move up in those individual sports, but there are some new ones that are being tested at the beginning of the year, such as Agility and Barn Hunt.
Most important of all is the bringing out of the "Seniors"in these sports. Over half mentioned here are beloved "Seniors"

Today "Miss Butterball" got two medals in the mail and said “mom I need to show this off.” Being a good mom I went along with my little daughter's request. She had also finished her Spring Scurry 2026, walk and her certificate came today for her AKC Star puppy. She just needs to do a club walk in May and turn 6 months on May 20th for me to submit for her 3 mental. She will be working towards the CGC, Junior Hunter and Scent Work titles during the late spring and Summer. She is a cutie with an amazing personality.

Today was the monthly Fit Dog walk with the Santa Clara Dog Training Club at Lake Cunningham. The first picture is the group trying to stand for a group picture. What the picture doesn't show was the squirrels running into their hillside homes. It drove the dogs nuts. Some of the members in the first picture only did the one mile walk. The second picture were the ones who did the 3.1 mile "Spring Scurry"2026. "Fury Ann" completed her Silver Fit Dog Title. Vixen and Pilot are working on their Gold

I am happy to announce that "Butterball" has passed her AKC S.T.A.R. puppy and will receive her certificate. She is 4 months 3/4 weeks old, the youngest of any of my pups that have gotten their first title. She is loved by all that meet her. She has also passed all her embark tests, clearing on everything. Another amazing healthy pup.
We are going on to finish her Fit Dog Bronze Title which should be this weekend, but she has to wait till she is 6 months to apply.

This weekend I had a tough loss. Doc, 12 years old, has always been a happy and healthy dog. I had to take him the emergency clinic after suddenly showing difficulty walking and very pale gums. An ultrasound confirmed a bleeding mass on his spleen, likely cancer. Given the prognosis, at best a short amount of time even with surgery, and prior experience with my Sailor boy 2 years ago, the difficult decision was made to let him go peacefully.

Doc spent his final moments surrounded by love, enjoying a special meal and hearing stories of what a joy he was to have in my life and all of the great experiences we shared. He passed gently, with his head in my arms.

Doc leaves behind a lasting legacy through his offspring, grandpups, and extended PVR family. His spirit, drive, and personality will continue on in them.

Run free, Doc. You were deeply loved and will be greatly missed.

Today was another Fit Dog Walk with the Santa Clara Dog Training Club and right on schedule I brought Pilot and Keeper for their individual walks. It marks a special day for these two. It was the last individual walk needed for "Pilot" 12 years 3 months and " Keeper" 21 months, to secure their Silver fit dog title. Still pending approval from AKC.
On hand was Pilot's Granddaughter "Butterball", who has already completed her individual 3.1 mile Spring Scurry 2026 walk. "Butterball" felt the sun was bright today so she borrowed some shades to witness her Grandmother and her daddy's "Keeper" ceremony.🤣🤣🤣

"Butterball" AKA "Butter" going on 14 weeks has finished her second part of her 3.1 walk for Spring Scurry going for her FIT DOG Bronze. She has also had two classes towards her Star Puppy Title. Her dad "Keeper" is now taking private lessons and she is joining her daddy 🎉🥰. "Keeper" is so friendly that he has a hard time keeping all four feet on the ground when her approaches someone. So, confirmation showing is on hold, but he does get the compliments that he is so handsome. The problem is he knows it.
