NPVMC currently has swing beds open!

Our swing bed program is designed to help when a patient is no longer in need of acute care in a hospital, however, still in need of more rehabilitation before returning home. We also have physical and occupational therapy on-site Monday-Friday to help with recovery.

Even if a patient has a three-night qualifying stay in another hospital, they can come back to the North Platte Valley Medical Center in Saratoga for swing bed services.

Medicare allows a 30-day post-discharge timeframe, meaning, a patient has 30 days post a three-night qualifying stay to be able to utilize swing bed services if it is qualified by Medicare.

We’re excited to introduce Brittnee Palmer as Extended Care Activities Coordinator at North Platte Valley Medical Center.

With 10 years of healthcare experience in Nevada and Wyoming, Brittnee brings a passion for connecting with residents and making a difference in their daily lives. In her role, she creates meaningful activities that support engagement, joy, and quality of life for our extended care residents.

Outside of work, Brittnee enjoys spending time with her family outdoors – hunting, fishing, camping, and hiking – or reading a good book.

The board-certified family medicine physician is seeing patients full time at the Platte Valley Clinic located inside of NPVMC. Additionally, Dr. Speakman will contribute by working shifts in our Emergency Department and serving as NPVMC’s medical director.

Meet Katie Vaughan, Physical Therapist 👋

Katie Vaughan, DPT, recently joined the North Platte Valley Medical Center care team and is currently seeing patients in the Physical Therapy department. She brings experience from outpatient, acute care, and pediatric settings, most recently working in Fulton, Missouri.

A graduate of Rockhurst University in Kansas City, Missouri, Katie earned her Doctorate in Physical Therapy in December 2024 and has since enjoyed the opportunity to provide care in a variety of settings across the country. She’s passionate about connecting with patients, helping them meet their goals, and supporting the body’s natural healing process through physical therapy.

Outside of work, Katie enjoys spending time outdoors (she came to the right place!) — whether hiking, camping, fishing, or simply exploring the beauty of new places.
