Sometimes things we no longer use can become life-changing tools for someone else. Screen readers, an old magnifier, a talking device that you no longer need could give someone else confidence in their independence. If you have gently used assistive technology that you'd like to donate, we can give it a new purpose. Your donation doesn't just sit on a shelf, it goes directly to someone in your community who truly needs it. 💗

November is Assistive Technology Month!

This month we want to celebrate the incredible technology that makes the world more accessible. These tools give independence, inclusion, and access to education, work, and everyday life.

Here are a few examples of assistive technology that can help the blind and visually impaired community:

👆 Refreshable Braille displays

📱 Apps that read text aloud

🦯 Smart mobility tools

🏠 Talking & smart-home devices

We are here to help blind and visually impaired Floridians achieve their goals and live productive and independent lives.

At our nonprofit we believe blindness should never stand in the way of confidence, independence, or opportunity. That’s why we proudly serve blind and visually impaired adults right here in Brevard County by providing resources that empower them to thrive.

Through our five-week Program for Independent Living (PIL), participants learn essential skills such as:

Household and Financial Management
Navigating the community using available tools and resources
Cooking safely and confidently
Using accessible technology
Understanding safety strategies for everyday life

We assist each participant in setting up access to county transit services, giving them the freedom to travel independently across Brevard.

In addition to our training programs, we operate an in-office audio book recording studio, giving our clients access to books in a format that supports connection through the love of literature.
This grant would directly support these services, helping more visually impaired adults gain the independence and confidence they deserve. Together, we can build a stronger and more inclusive community. A community where everyone can navigate the world with dignity and pride.

We had the chance to connect with amazing innovators, explore new assistive technologies, and share ideas that support greater independence for individuals who are blind or experiencing vision loss.
