FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: February 17, 2022
To: All Media Outlets, Social Media Engagements and Alabama Citizens/Patients
As the Founder & President of Alabamians 4 Medical Cannabis Freedom & Disability Rights, I am so excited and extremely thankful to be able to confirm & announce that SB144, the Delta 8 Ban bill sponsored by Senator Tim Melson from Florence, Alabama, has been scrapped.
According to the coverage from WAAY31, ABC, Senator Melson is working on an alternative piece of legislation that has the goal of keeping THC products away from children. The bill would allow ONLY those 21 years of age and older to buy the product.
I want to be extremely clear: This does NOT affect Alabamaโs Medical Cannabis Program that was signed into law last year.
Melson went on to say that he would consider another attempt in the future.
I have linked the article/vide from the WAAY31 coverage.

This is a win and positive movement for the patients and citizens of Alabama. I want to thank all of you who called, emailed or visited the State House in opposition to the bill. Hard work and persistence pays off.
I am sure in the future we will be faced with the original bill again, but for now lets be thankful for the positive favor and continue to focus on SB160-the Decriminalization & Expungement bill, to push it to becoming a law!
