For everyone who attended events at the OFT...don't miss this upcoming event at the Playhouse in Woodstock:
IN THIS TIME OF CHANGE…..
Nothing more fitting than the legendary LAST POETS in their first ever appearance in Woodstock, NY.
Acclaimed as the Founding Fathers of the Hip-Hop Nation, ever since their gold record debuts in 1970 and 1971, THE LAST POETS have described, deplored, exalted and redeemed the state of their People and our Nation.
They have recorded with and shared stages with some of the greatest musicians of our era - from Pharoah Sanders to Kanye West to many in between…
Please join us in welcoming them to the Woodstock Playhouse on November 30. Not a moment too soon to help us understand and get us through this divisive, combative moment in American and world history.
Opening up the evening is dance icon and former A&M recording artist, STRAFE, whose club anthem “SET IT OFF” has never ceased to be played in clubs worldwide, and whose impact on that scene cannot be overstated. Both a love song and a call to action, “Set It Off” perfectly encapsulates STRAFE’s understanding that the personal is political and that the political is personal. Bring it on STRAFE!
REBELLE’s African Roots Reggae is a spiritual Brother and Sister to the Soul of the evening…..singing and grooving in multiple languages, “ReBelle’s mission is the birthing of a living culture of love and the unbounded liberation of humanity”.
“WHO ARE WE NOW?”, SYNACURE’S debut single on ZIQ STREET records, was born from a piece from the LAST POETS’ ABIODUN OYEWOLE and BABA DON BABATUNDE’s unreleased masterpiece, OMI TUTU. WHO ARE WE NOW? is the question we will be attempting to answer on November 30 at the Woodstock Playhouse, as we party, groove, debate and confront the moment….See you there!
