We have a new podcast up, and this is a vulnerable one for me. I share about a recent period where I felt truly, completely devoid of hope. It was a state I've never experienced before and it was all-consuming. Not fun, 0% recommend.
Here's the thing, when I was in that state, even the simplest acts of self-care and reaching out for support felt impossible. I didn't have the energy to do the things I normally do to keep regulated and balanced. My poor garden is still recovering!
It's our hope that this episode around mental health will be helpful for people who are feeling hopeless themselves, as well as people who might be looking to support loved ones feeling this way.
I was lucky enough to move out of that hopelessness quickly, mostly due to my friends and community. I'm so grateful for friends like Sarah Kelly and Laura who were able to drop what they were doing to visit and just be with me. Thank you both for being there even when I didn’t know how to ask. 💗
Sometimes when I'm on the flip side of this scenario, trying to support my community, I'm not sure what to do. How can I help? But one of the many things this season of hopelessness taught me was that just being there, even if there's no talking or action, can be enough.
So whether you know that hopeless feeling yourself, or you just want to support others, give this week’s podcast a listen on your favorite player. And if you’re inspired, reach out to a friend you haven’t heard from in awhile to say hi!
Pic is an oldie from pre-Covid! We need to do some dancing again soon...
