Jumping on the #2016 bandwagon ✨

2016 was a powerful year. Looking back through these photos, I’m struck by how busy and full life felt in our first year of marriage. Travel, concerts, experiences… apparently, renting came with extra fun money. 😂

That year, I began my eating disorder healing journey, challenging, transformative, and ultimately liberating. My body was changing, and I was learning how to meet myself with compassion.

I also started my PhD program. It wasn’t easy, but it shaped so much of what came next, including the work I do now as Dr. MC.

The world felt different then. Ten years later, so much has shifted. I crave more peace and quiet. Some friendships have changed, others remain. I’ve given hundreds of presentations, grown my community, and collected memories I never could’ve imagined.

Most importantly, I’ve embraced my body and my life with more ease and love than ever before.

Grateful for who I was, who I am, and who I’m still becoming.

Woke up to several folks in the anti-fat bias space discussing this on social media earlier today due to a recent incident where an “influencer” with over 2M followers found it necessary to wear a fat suit to blatantly and openly mock another person/influencer. This is ridiculous.

Samyra, who was the one being mocked, is a popular body-positive, anti-fat bias voice with a significant platform of her own. She is also a Harvard-educated, classically trained powerhouse performer.

No doubt Samyra will not let this incident impact her fabulousness, but I worry about actions like these and the voices that will be silenced by this level of cruelty, ridicule, harassment, and anti-fat bias.

The internet and social media have made it so easy for us to be terrible to one another. To say and do things that deeply hurt each other for likes and follows. The person who created the video received a lot of backlash and has since deleted the video, but it is still out there. People recorded it, took screenshots, etc. The internet is forever.

In my work, I strive to create spaces for folks to feel safe, included, and supported, etc., and it breaks my heart to see people behaving in such disgusting ways. As a society, I truly hope we can do better.

⁉️Why get a Woman Owned Enterprise certification as a sole entrepreneur?

👉Because visibility matters.

The more people who know about my unique perspective and offerings – especially those in roles to bring workshops and tools to their teams – the better! My services aren’t your typical PD snoozefest. 🤭

With this certification, the Self-Care Cabaret is now available for more public agencies and groups.

Service-based small businesses often get overlooked because there’s nothing physical to hold or use. So this holiday season, consider supporting entrepreneurs like me.

Let’s partner together in 2026!

Why start from scratch when the vision is still vibing? ✨

I’ll be honest: I love a good vision board, but mine still has plenty of goals "in play" from last year. Instead of a full 2026 refresh, I’m switching things up and doing Vision Board BINGO! 🎲

I’m gamifying my achievements this year to keep the momentum high and the pressure low. It’s the same big dreams, just a different way to track the wins. Who’s ready to play? 🙋‍♀️

Comment below, and I will send you the blank template.

(some goals have been blurred for privacy)

💔 2025 brought grief and pain I had never experienced before. Losing a parent is complicated under the best of circumstances, but when that relationship was shaped by abuse, trauma, silence, and betrayal, that grief becomes even more complex.

I will never have the relationship with my father or the closure I deserved or dreamed of.

I’m choosing resilience, forward movement, and peace—while standing for what is right and a deep knowing that I did not do anything wrong.

If you’re navigating a complicated loss or estrangement, you’re not alone. Keep choosing yourself. ❤️

Trying something new this January: no-spend (ish) challenge with my husband.

✔️ Necessities + essentials
✔️ Gas, groceries, bills
✔️ Services we already rely on (Instacart, occasional Uber Eats)
✔️ Other appointments like nails 💅🏼, haircuts 💇🏽‍♀️
🚫 Amazon orders
🚫 Clothes, jewelry, shoes, etc.
🚫 No extra stuff, new projects, books, whatever else I come accross

I plan to make note of what I was tempted to buy and on February 1st, I will see if I still want it. But who knows, in February, I may develop a new challenge. 💰

Not about deprivation—about noticing habits, simplifying, and resetting after the holidays.

Anyone else doing a no-spend January or setting a money reset for the new year? 💬

As educators, teachers, and school staff…we have SO much to deal with and navigate. This is horrifying. I discussed this in a recent PD workshop I hosted. Schools are not ready for this type of bullying. 😔
