Good morning and welcome to Music & Memories.

This is Linda Sue, and I am the grief specialist at Patton-Schad Funeral Home. It is my pleasure to bring you this week’s program. This program is our way of reaching out to help families deal with those difficult days surrounding the death anniversary of a loved one.

The hustle and bustle of the upcoming Christmas season is upon us. It's natural to not want to take part in it all, when we are missing someone we love. There are ways to keep your loved one at the Christmas celebrations. Stop for a moment and remember what they used to do for Christmas, What foods, decorations and traditions did they love to partake in and do? You can adopt those for your own and honor your loved one during the Christmas holiday. Some folks will volunteer or buy food and gifts for a family in need. In their memory, you have the power to choose! Start making plans.

Thanksgiving is now over, and you may be pondering why you wondered why it might have been painful. It is always healthy to anticipate the upcoming events to prepare your heart for what's ahead. Our grief pain likes to butt in and take over sometimes, so it is not a bad idea to have a plan in place. Making sure you surround yourself with people who love you is crucial. Sharing those memories and stories of your loved one helps keep them right with you and feels good too! So, as you look ahead to your upcoming celebrations, remember to take care of you!!
