We couldn't be more excited to see this incredible group of students officially become CNAs! From day one, this crew has been exceptionally proficient, deeply caring, and an absolute joy to have in our halls.
A huge shoutout to the fantastic partnerships that makes this possible: Sauk Prairie High School utilizes Madison College instructors to teach this vital healthcare course, and here at Maplewood Health and Rehabilitation Center, we have the privilege of hosting these students for their hands-on clinical learning. During this course, students explore healthcare options and work hard toward obtaining their CNA license.
To the students: Thank you for allowing our residents to get to know you. You were not only appreciated but thoroughly enjoyed! You brought so much life, energy, and comfort to our building, and our residents are already missing your smiles.
Programs like this highlight why starting a healthcare journey as a CNA is such an incredible opportunity—whether someone is looking for a lifelong career or a stepping-stone to a future medical degree.
At Maplewood, we love seeing students transition from clinical learners into valued team members because the benefits are unmatched:
• The Ultimate Stepping-Stone: A CNA license knocks out a major prerequisite for almost any advanced healthcare degree, giving students a massive head start on their resumes.
• Great Earning Potential: This certification allows students to earn a significantly higher wage than a typical part-time job offers.
• School Credit + Paid Work: Through special work-release programs, students can actually get paid for working shifts at Maplewood during school hours, all while earning high school credits.
We are incredibly proud to support the next generation of healthcare heroes. Watching these students grow from learners into certified professionals is one of our favorite parts of what we do!

There is nothing better than being able to love up on a pet. Today was Pet Day at Maplewood and it was an ultimate experience - from the weather to the pets. As special thank you to those who shared their pets with us: Kelsey with Felix, Kathy with Bella, Vicki with Elvin & Fern, Owen with Ginger, Bev with Lil Eddy, plus Kristy with Cleo. You made our day!!

Both Jill Schneider and Michelle Kraemer will be the first to tell you they have the best jobs around, and that enthusiasm is exactly what makes them so great at what they do. They like to give something special to those living on Maplewood’s Campus so they organized a special pet day… which is happening because of the help of community members who are bringing their pets in to let the residents love up on them and the activities departments.
Whether she’s at her own salon (next to the Village of Prairie du Sac) or working with the tenants at Maplewood Village, Jill brings an incredible level of care to the chair.
She has a true knack for listening—she knows exactly how a tenant wants their hair to look and goes the extra mile to make it happen. She truly cares about her clients, and it shows in every style she finishes. Her devotion to her tenants is unmatched!
Michelle is a “people person”. While she handles a lot of behind-the-scenes work at Maplewood, you’re just as likely to see her out in the community sharing what makes the Maplewood campus special. She enjoys visiting local organizations to share more about the incredible resources Maplewood and Maplewood Village are to the Sauk Prairie community.
You will catch Michelle in less than a month at June Tunes (Oak Meyer Park). Stop by, share a fun fact about Maplewood, and grab a free water bottle. She loves hearing your stories about the care and connections made on the Maplewood campus.
We are so grateful to have Jill and Michelle’s energy and dedication!

We are excited to share that we will be hosting a Pet Day on Monday, May 11th!
To help residents and tenants enjoy some animal companionship, we have arranged for a variety of specific animals to visit us for a "petting zoo" experience. Please note that this is a pre-scheduled event with predetermined handlers. To ensure the safety and comfort of all our residents and visiting animals, we ask that family and friends do not bring personal pets from home on this day.
We look forward to a wonderful day of furry friends and smiles!

As we celebrate National Skilled Nursing Care Week, we wanted to take a moment to shine a spotlight on the incredible team that makes everything we do possible and brag a bit about our amazing staff!
It is a beautiful thing to watch this team in action. Whether it’s picking up an extra shift to ensure our residents have the care they deserve or quietly donating time and supplies to brighten someone’s day, your dedication never goes unnoticed.
You bring "old school" ethics to work every single day—showing up with 100% effort, a smile on your face, and genuine love in your hearts. You don’t just work together; you show up for each other, proving every day what it means to be a true team.
To the nurses, CNAs, culinary staff, housekeeping, activities, pharmacy, hair stylists, marketing, office staff, maintenance, therapy, laundry, social services and administration: Thank you for choosing to give your best to our residents. You are the soul of our community!

A mother is the teacher of home, history, family, and tradition. She is the selfless caregiver who offers unconditional love and protection, often balancing the family budget and managing the household with grace.
As I sat down to write about how vital a mother is to her child—at any age—I found myself reflecting on two powerful quotes that truly capture the heart of motherhood:
"The influence of a mother in the lives of her children is beyond calculation." — James E. Faust
"I am sure that if the mothers of various nations could meet, there would be no more wars." — E. M. Forster
Today, we celebrate the incredible women who shape our world. Whether you are a mom, a grandma, or a mother figure, thank you for your endless strength and devotion.

We are thrilled to announce that Lisa Mora has been named our Employee of the Month! Since joining our team in December 2022, Lisa has brought so much more than just her culinary skills to Maplewood’s kitchen. She brought creativity that pleases the palate and a spirit that brightens everyone's day.
Lisa isn’t just a cook; she’s a true artist. Whether she’s experimenting with bold new flavors or perfecting her legendary soups and sauces (which we’re pretty sure are the best in the world!), she is always pushing the envelope to create something special.
When you say a person pours their heart and soul into things, this perfectly describes Lisa. She deeply cares about our residents, and she believes that every meal is an opportunity to show them how much they matter. To Lisa, it’s not just food, it’s a way to offer a sense of comfort, care, and home.
When she isn't busy crafting five-star recipes, she is the life of the kitchen. Her quick wit and endless jokes keep the team laughing and the energy high, even during the busiest rushes.
Lisa, thank you for your dedication, your humor, and for nourishing both the bodies and souls of our residents. We are so lucky to have you on our team!

Who knew a simple online job posting would bring such an incredible, global perspective to Maplewood? We are fortunate to welcome four bright, highly motivated women originally from Venezuela, Haiti, Nigeria, and the Philippines to our team.
Each of these ladies have an impressive education in fields like teaching, firefighting and culinary arts, linguistics and nursing. Driven by a desire to make a positive impact and provide a bright future for their families, they uprooted their lives, moved to America, received CNA/Medical Assistant training and now call Sauk Prairie home.
Transitioning from bustling, multicultural international hubs to rural Wisconsin was a significant change and the "extreme" winters were certainly a culture shock! However, they quickly discovered that what Sauk Prairie may lack in size, it makes up for in heart. They found a sense of safety, an abundance of kindness, and a supportive school system that has helped their children thrive.
At Maplewood, these women have become an essential part of our community. They are deeply driven, cross-trained to care for residents in every wing and possess a natural gift for connecting with our seniors. Some are currently utilizing Maplewood’s scholarship program to become a nurse. It is fueled by the warmth and support of their coworkers and leadership.
We are honored to be a part of their journey and so grateful they chose to bring their dreams and their talents to Maplewood. Welcome Sherie Ann, Fabiana, Cristelle, and Jite.
