We, at Maplewood, are thrilled to introduce a new chapter in clinical excellence at Maplewood. To ensure our residents receive the most timely and comprehensive care possible, we have transitioned to a dedicated on-site medical model!
Please join us in welcoming our new Medical Director, Dr.
El-Shahat, MD, FAAFP, and Felicia Aman, MSN, AGPCNP-BC.
What does this mean for our residents? Think of it like a stay at a premier hospital: while you are under our roof, you have a dedicated clinical team right here in the building.
• Expertise on Hand: Dr. El-Shahat will be here on Tuesdays and Felicia will be at Maplewood Monday, Wednesdays and Fridays.
• Faster Response: No more waiting for off-site call-backs or coordinating outside transport for routine clinical needs.
• Specialized Care: Both providers specialize in family and geriatric medicine, ensuring our residents are seen by experts who understand their unique journeys.
As a person living on the Maplewood Campus, if a Maplewood Village tenant needs medical attention, and has their primary doctor listed as preferred, as long as the Curana team is listed as secondary, when medical help is needed, Felicia or Dr. El-Shahat can provide the on-site visit. To introduce the program and answer any questions at the end of May or June, there will be a sponsored “Happy Hour”. Please stay in-tune.

We were fortunate to receive some young visitors during "Spring Break." It reminded us that the best part of any day, including the holidays isn't always the day itself...it’s the chaos and excitement of the preparation!

We spent the afternoons playing games, coloring eggs and decorating cookies. While we had our bright colors out, we couldn't help but reminisce about the "old school" ways: using beet juice and onion skins to dye eggs. It’s amazing how much has changed, but the joy remains exactly the same.

And yes, we definitely sampled the goods. You can’t be too careful with cookie quality!
