Meditation used to terrify me…just the thought of trying to sit perfectly still for a long time made me uncomfortable. I wish I knew then that I didn’t have to sit still to gain the benefits of a meditation. Those include sense of balance, heightened awareness, calm focus…many things we could all use more of.
Try starting small, maybe with something like an eating meditation. Just simply prepare, eat, and cleanup after a solo meal in total silence. Move slowly & mindfully, trying to stay engaged with each small action you take.
Meditation is different each time & for each person, but you may soon start to feel a sense of calm steadiness. Don’t try worry or too hard if that one isn’t for you…lmfao I left a laughing meditation angry once😂

There’s something for everyone ✌🏼

Nadi Shodhana, or Alternate Nostril Breathing has opened up space for me to breathe many times during allergy season, & that’s not even the best part. This simple breathing exercise helps to bring our thoughts and emotions into a more balanced state by focusing the awareness literally onto individual sides of the brain. The rhythmic flow of breath on alternating sides of the nasal passages causes a calming sensation. Just make sure the breaths are slow & steady, and don’t worry too much about hand position if it is a challenge.
This one is powerful, so maybe go easy if experiencing migraines or high blood pressure ✌🏼

For a few years now, I’ve been bringing Yoga to people & places & situations around Savannah that might not otherwise experience the benefits this practice has to offer. Monthly Kitten Yoga at the humane society, and 3+ years of weekly private child-autism-focused Yoga are among my favorite examples.
I formed Yoga For Real Life to take this challenge further. One of my missions is to make it easier for more people to reap the benefits of movement & breath, and another is to get someone else to pay for your Yoga lmfao.
I’m working hard pulling this together, pls bear with me.

Details coming soon…stick around…this is gonna be good.

Simply by adding a backstop just behind you while trying any balance, you can ease your Central Nervous System down & smooth out the fight-or-flight-wobbles just a little. This extra flight time starts to strengthen smaller muscles, like the tibialis anterior, that don’t see as much action in the gym but are crucial to a strong foundation.
No experience necessary; just stand on one foot with a wall close behind until the wobbles start to warm up the lower leg… Ride it for as long as you like, then switch. Start small & watch the changes come quickly as you increase ✌🏼

Sama Vritti, or Box Breath / Equal Parts Breath is a simple & powerful yogic breathing exercise for down-regulating the Central Nervous System on the fly.
In moments of stress/anxiety/excitement, our body automatically increases heart rate & breathing to provide the energy necessary to escape the situation. It is a valuable part of the flight or fight response, but when it happens at an inopportune time, like a busy public place, it can feel pretty serious and be very inconvenient.
Since in stressful situations we breathe irregularly, by harnessing the breath, or life force, and bringing it into a slow & fixed rhythm, we begin to send a signal to the CNS that we aren’t in danger. The CNS should soon start to relax & the tunnel vision might open up a bit…maybe providing a little space to calmly move forward. It’s a really simple & effective tool that I use regularly when things start getting tight 🤙🏼

I was surprise-gifted a mandala today by the family of a long-time private yoga student. This was created specifically for my Yoga endeavors, and it is gorgeous!
Mandala is Sanskrit for “circle”, or “ring”, or “essence”, & it is used as a yogic tool to help focus attention during meditation. The creation of a traditional mandala is also a meditation, beginning with the center point and slowly moving outward, while focusing on the meaning and importance of each shape.
This particular mandala will always hold a special place in my heart. I am very grateful, & there are good things coming…it will be put to very good use soon!

Equilux vs Equinox:

Equinox: The vernal equinox in March 2026 occurs on Friday, March 20, 2026, at 10:46 AM EDT (14:46 UTC). It marks the astronomical start of spring in the Northern Hemisphere and is defined as the moment when the Sun crosses the celestial equator, resulting in nearly equal daylight and darkness globally. However, due to atmospheric refraction and the Sun’s apparent size, daylight exceeds 12 hours on this date.

Equilux: The equilux—the day when day and night are truly equal (approximately 12 hours each)—occurs a few days before the equinox. For most locations in the Northern Hemisphere, this happens around March 16–18, 2026, depending on latitude:

Rise and burn…slowly. Each Wednesday morning at 8:15am we will slow. it. down. & this 45 minute class will join breath with movement to build the fire from within. Static holds and deliberate transitions will help to build muscular endurance, as well as strengthen the nervous system’s ability to carry out our intention. This is a great way to build a lasting internal fire to carry you through the day. Hope to see you soon 🙏🏻💜🔥

My decision to try yoga teacher training was because I knew there were things that just couldn’t be learned in a one-hour public yoga class, & I thought maybe some of those things could help me. Through trainings and studying and my own practice while living a human life, I have collected quite a lot of little techniques and concepts that make a day or task more manageable, as well things that help to just feel better in general. If there’s something yoga-related that you’re curious about, something that you never think to ask the teacher, or maybe you don’t practice yoga but are curious & have a question: hit me up. DM me or drop a comment somewhere, & I’ll try to make a video about it, or we can chat directly.
