This award is the result of a statewide search, recognizing individuals who truly fan the flames of hope and embody the heart, vision, and mission of DBHDD. From more than 250 nominees across Georgia, Shenequa was selected for the impact she makes every single day through her advocacy, courage, compassion, and unwavering dedication to our community.
The Flame of Hope Award honors those whose leadership and service create real change - people who uplift others, champion inclusion, and lead with heart. Shenequa does all of this and more. Her work is rooted in purpose, her voice lifts others, and her presence makes our community stronger.
To us at EmployAbility, Shenequa is not only an advocate and leader, she is a light. She represents the very best of our mission and reminds us what’s possible when dedication meets compassion.

Making Marks is our favorite exhibit, and we are so proud to partner with the Telfair Museums on this incredible project.
Every year, Making Marks becomes a powerful reminder of what creativity can spark when people are given the tools and space to express themselves. Participants pour their iimagination into inspired artwork that ultimately fills a stunning exhibition - one that celebrates every voice, every mark, and every moment of creation.
Today, participants had the joy of seeing their pieces on display inside one of Savannah’s most beautiful museums. And that experience matters.
It matters because visibility builds confidence.
It matters because being recognized as an artist changes how someone sees themselves.
It matters because creativity deserves a place in our community - not tucked away, but showcased, honored, and shared.
We’re grateful for the opportunity to support a program that puts art and empowerment side by side. Here’s to another year of Making Marks, and to every artist whose work brightens the walls of the Jepson. 🎨✨

✨ Huge thanks to the Savannah Ballet Theatre! ✨
We are so grateful to the Savannah Ballet Theatre for hosting a sensory-friendly performance of The Nutcracker today. This special show was thoughtfully designed to welcome individuals with sensory processing differences (SPD), helping make the magic of the holidays accessible to everyone.

After the performance, participants got to meet the cast, ask questions, take photos, and see the stunning costumes up close!

You can catch this legendary production this Saturday, December 6th at the Trustee’s Theatre at 2 PM or 7 PM.

Our EmployAbility Program participants had the privilege of delivering the heartfelt cards they created for our veterans to Combat Boots 2 The Boardroom. 🇺🇸

This incredible organization continues to transform lives by supporting veterans as they transition from military service to meaningful civilian careers. Their dedication to empowerment, professional development, and community connection is truly changing the landscape for those who have served our country.
