I'm so grateful to have been interviewed for this GPB News story on maternal mental health in Georgia.

Thanks so much to Ellen Eldridge for doing the good work of reporting on maternal health in the Deep South (no small feat!), and for including the Georgia Fund for Perinatal Mental Health in her coverage. 🍑

Women without access to health care — including mental health care — are more likely to die from pregnancy-related issues, including substance misuse and su***de.

The new mom needs everything the new baby needs. And yet most of us find ourselves feeling alone, invisible, and even abandoned after bringing home a new baby.

You don't need to be invisible and you are not alone. We've got you.

Nurture Support Group for New Moms kicks off TOMORROW!

We meet on Saturdays at 12pm and all moms with babies in their first year are welcome to join.

My only 2025 resolution was to write more. It took me some time to find the guts for this, but on this last day of the eternal month of January, I'm just gonna share:

I started a Substack: https://bridcro.substack.com/

Please read, share, comment, and subscribe if you want to hear book recs, not-so-hot takes, and my rambling inner monologue. 🩶

notes, lists, and outtakes from a social worker, perinatal therapist, midlife mom, and bewildered human in coastal georgia. Click to read "say more about that.", by bridget, a Substack publication. Launched 20 days ago.

If you've been around me the last 2 years, you've probably heard me talk about the Georgia Fund for Perinatal Mental Health.

It has been so exciting to help midwife this program into existence – especially over the past few months with the support of PSI Georgia Chapter. Since then, we've provided over 800 FULLY FUNDED therapy sessions to perinatal moms in need across Georgia.

We now REALLY need our community's support to keep it going. If you're looking for an immediate, impactful way to join the maternal mental movement in Georgia, please consider a donation: postpartum.app.neoncrm.com/forms/georgiachapter

We currently have more than 50 perinatal moms in need on our waitlist. Every dollar will help provide them with life-saving mental health care with a specialist. Let's help show these mamas they are not alone.

Learn more at georgiafund.org and please help spread the word! 🧡

Thank you so much to Savannah Parents for interviewing me about the Nurture Support Group for New Moms!

This group has been near and dear to me for SEVEN (😳!) years now, and I'm so grateful for every mama who has come through this space.

Nurture resumes on September 18! All moms with babies in their first year are welcome. 💚

The seasons of greatest joy can also come with our biggest challenges and having a new baby is prime time for these forces to collide.

Savannah-based therapist, Bridget Cross, LCSW, PMH-C, is our local mental health expert for the perinatal period – everything from trying to conceive to postpartum. She’s shared her story and the reason she’s so dedicated to helping local moms through her group, Nurture Community Support, in our interview.

The group, started in 2017, starts up again this September 18, 2024 in Savannah, GA. Read on to learn more.
