This was a great day to celebrate the opening of Chatham County's first day center - a place of respite for those experiencing homelessness. We have been working with the Chatham-Savannah Authority for the Homeless and a task force of community leaders in the development of the Give Change That Counts campaign for over a year - and are thrilled to see this come together to help those in need!

What a great "day at the office" working with neighborhood residents and community volunteers to create active routes to everyday destinations!

We had a great time last night walking through Edgemere/Sackville Neighborhoods on our Neighborhood Street Safety Audit!

Thanks to volunteers from the Edgemere Sackville Neighborhood Association and Metropolitan Savannah Rotary, we hosted the first of two sessions to identify gaps in the sidewalks, where neighborhoods need safer places to cross the street, and how we can better connect our communities.

Data collected during this session will support the Racial and Ethnic Approaches to Health (REACH) program team develop Activity-Friendly Routes to Neighborhood Destinations Plans, which will help in the planning process for Tide To Town.

We couldn't agree more! The I-16 flyover is an economic, social, and physical barrier for Savannah and its removal would restore critical connectivity, improve safety, and help restore the urban fabric of Savannah. Symbioscity was a member of the project team that evaluate the options years ago and we remain optimistic one day this will be a reality.

Removing the flyover and restoring a network of streets along the MLK corridor would improve traffic flow, connectivity and economic activity.
