I've started using a few new tools in my Thai massage practice and wanted to share. Feel free to ask about them in your next session. :)
Pha Khaw Ma - Woven scarf used for a variety of purposes. In Thai massage, it can be used for assisted stretching, or supporting the body while rocking or applying compression. The tactile experience adds variety to the massage, and in some cases may be more comfortable for the recipient and / or practitioner. In a Sarga Thai session, the silks can be used in a similar way. They are slightly more elastic.
Tok Sen - Wooden hammer and chisel made from trees that have been struck by lightning and said to carry good energy. Used for light tapotement, traditionally on the energy lines but can also be used to work on stubborn knots or to transmit vibration to hard to reach areas. Another way to add variety to the massage.
Thanks to Jill and Heather at Living Sabai for teaching me how to use these tools. If you would like to take a workshop or purchase some for yourself check them out at https://www.livingsabai.com
