The main types of fibroids are:
Intramural Fibroids – the most common type of fibroid, which develop in the muscle wall of the womb.
Subserosal Fibroids – fibroids that develop outside the wall of the womb into the pelvis and can become very large.
Submucosal Fibroids – fibroids that develop in the muscle layer beneath the womb's inner lining and grow into the cavity of the womb. Atherosclerosis is a major risk factor for cardiovascular disease (CVD), which, according to the World Health Organization is the leading cause of death on a global scale. Atherosclerosis is more common in men than women, and men tend to develop the condition at an earlier age. Atherosclerosis is a condition where the arteries harden and become narrow as a result of a build-up of fatty substances known as plaques. This is a potentially dangerous situation because a restricted supply of blood can damage organs and disrupt their ability to function properly. Varicose veins are enlarged, twisted veins. Varicose veins can happen anywhere in the body, but are more common in the legs.
Varicose veins are not considered a serious medical condition. But, they can be uncomfortable and can lead to more serious problems. And, because they may be very noticeable, they may cause people to feel uncomfortable or embarrassed. Varicose veins are caused by increased blood pressure in the veins. Varicose veins happen in the veins near the surface of the skin (superficial).
The blood moves towards the heart by one-way valves in the veins. When the valves become weakened or damaged, blood can collect in the veins. For more information https://www.savannahvascular.com/vein-center

Providing Comprehensive & Compassionate Vascular Care Since 1994

Savannah Vascular Institute has been dedicated to providing comprehensive and compassionate vascular care to our patients since 1994. We are the region’s trusted leader in vascular care combining two specialties to create a World-Class Center of Excellence. Our Physicians are dedicated to the compassionate and state-of-the-art treatment of disorders of arteries and veins specializing in minimally-invasive alternatives to open surgery, such as laser vein treatments for varicose veins, angioplasty and stenting for arterial blockages, and endografts for aneurysms.

Savannah Vascular Institute offers a dedicated office-based facility with state-of-the-art efficient and comprehensive outpatient access and vein services. We have combined the safety and technology of a hospital setting with the convenience and efficiency of an office practice. Utilizing the latest in ultrasound and fluoroscopy (x-ray for arteries and veins), our Vascular Ultrasound Lab is sanctioned by the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission (IAC) for non-invasive imaging of blood clots, swollen legs, arterial blockages, aneurysms, carotid artery diseases, and varicose veins.

Our Physicians strongly believe in disease prevention through patient education, lifestyle changes, and medications to lower complications from vascular disease.
