New Life Healing & Restoration Center New Life Healing and Restoration Center has a substance abuse ministry called SAM. SAM is a non-prof WHAT IS ADDICTION? Addiction comes in many shapes and forms.

The Substance Abuse Ministry is a fellowship of Christians whose lives have been affected either directly or indirectly by substance use, abuse or compulsive behavior. Our Ministry is based on the truth that Jesus came to set the captive free and our commitment to see people restored to wholeness. Addiction is a deep-seated form of idolatry. The objects of our addictions become our false Gods. These are what we worship, what we attend to where we give our time and energy, instead of love. Some have at their heart a substance (Alcohol, Drugs, Nicotine, Food, etc.). Others focus on a behavior (Lust, Sex, Shoplifting, and Pornography). All are characterized by compulsion. Addiction gets inside us and turns us into people we don’t want to be. At their heart, addictions are any self-defeating behavior which cannot stop despite their negative effect on us. WHO IS AFFECTED BY ADDICTION? In his selfishness, the addict believes that his behavior affects only himself, when the truth is that the addiction is very far reaching. Addiction affects parents, children, spouses, sisters, brothers, co-workers and even unborn babies. It is not a respecter of any socio-economic class. Addiction affects the level of trust between parents and their children; husband and wives; sisters and their brothers; bosses and their employees; thus causing a breakdown in relationships. THE ANSWER TO ADDICTION
Addiction is NOT the final word. JESUS IS. He is the stronger power. We know that in order to be free from the power of addiction, we need to be reconciled to the one true God. Jesus came to set the captive free. JESUS IS THE ANSWER TO ADDICTON
