1. Eat some protein beforehand to keep your hunger in check.
2. Keep healthy snacks in the car in case you need them.
3. Think through your food options before filling your plate.
4. Fill your plate just once to keep your portions in check.
5. Grab a plate or glass of water early on to avoid socializing empty-handed. People will be less likely to try to serve you something if you already have food or a drink.
6. Identify a “safe” person you can talk to if you need a distraction from tempting foods.
7. Don't bring leftovers home.

Please take note of our holiday hours. Happy Holidays and Happy New Year from all of us at IBC! 🎄

Tips to Avoid Weight Gain During the Holidays
1. Stay active with family & friends - A simple walk can distract you from food and bond with loved ones.
2. Be mindful of snacking - Keep treats out of sight.
3. Watch your portion sizes - It's easy to overload your plate.
4. Get plenty of sleep - Tired people move less and eat more.
5. Cut back on taste-testing while cooking - small bites can add up.
10. Skip seconds - if you need to go back for seconds, choose vegetables or proteins.
7. Limit liquid calories - Alcohol, hot chocolate, & other beverages have a surprising amount of sugar and calories.
8. Use a smaller plate - Help manage portion sizes with smaller plates.
9. Plan ahead - Eat before attending a party so that you don't overeat.
10. Skip seconds - if you need to go back for seconds, choose vegetable or proteins.
