Meet Derek!
He is from Newcastle Oklahoma and went to university of Oklahoma for his undergrad.
He graduated from Oklahoma State University College of Osteopathic Medicine.

“I was drawn to Emergency Medicine by the opportunity to be the first point of care for patients in critical need. I enjoy the fast-paced nature of the ED, the ability to perform hands-on procedures, and the challenge of stabilizing patients in high-stress situations.”

“I enjoy spending time with my family, being outdoors, camping, and hunting.”

“I’m excited to build a strong foundation of skills that will help me become a confident and capable ER physician. I look forward to putting myself in challenging situations so I can learn how to navigate them independently in the future.”

Dr. Van Gorden is from Vestal, NY and completed his undergraduate degree at Binghamton University. He attended medical school at NYITCOM.

“What drew me to emergency medicine was the fast paced environment and the exposure to so many different fields of medicine. You never know what you will see in the emergency department, but you know you will see a little bit of everything. But most importantly I am excited to be able to help people when they need it most.

I like to spend my free time with my family and doing outdoor activities.

During residency, I look forward to expanding my medical knowledge and experience as well as gaining new friends along the way.”

Our residents have the amazing opportunity to participate in annual hospital wide MCI drills!

Dr. Breslin does an amazing job at making the drill as real as possible while also making it super fun and a great learning experience. As Emergency Physicians, we will be expected to lead the way during these incidents in real life and having this drill is a fun way to put our skills to the test!
