The birth and postpartum doula is experienced in childbirth, mother and baby care. The doula provides continuous physical, emotional and educational support to the mother before, during and after the birth. She is is a mother's peace of mind: a quiet, knowledgeable, non-judgmental and calming presence who is at the mother's side during birth and who at home helps take on the tasks at hand in order for the mother to heal and take care of her new baby. I am an experienced, loving mother and grandmother and a trained member of the Long Island Doula Association (LIDA). As a caring, Sage Doula, my mission is to support pregnancy and labor, empower women during that process, keep the home-fire burning (light housekeeping and shopping, errands, cooking) and provide the mother with lactation support, bottle-feeding support, baby basics, and family support. As a trained Doula I bring up-to-date information and resources. As a Sage Doula, I bring a gentle and understanding approach, a wealth of experience and the expert culinary skills of a lifelong cook who knows the value of delicious healthy meals and nutrition for the new mother and her family.
