I was introduced to a new app that I think is interesting for everyone that wants to know how their body works and how to work/stretch their body. It is called "iMuscle" and it is available on Apple and Android devices. It costs $1.99 but it really seems worth it for the information that you get. Let me know what you think if you download it.

Covid 19 Update:

I got a new shield for my massage table. Let me know what you think.

Things that I'm doing to keep us both safe:

*I wear a mask & ask you to when you are face up.
*I use hand sanitizer before & after entering your home.
*I wash my hands before & after your massage.
*I take my temperature every morning.
*I am currently limiting my exposure to no more than 2 homes daily.
*I am currently not taking new clients.

I hope that everyone is doing well. I'm here for you when you are ready. Take care.❤

Quotes from the webinar I'm watching: "It's not a good massage until somebody farts." "A fart is like a standing ovation!" ☺

What do you think? Have you ever faced this moment?

04/03/2020

While I have all of this extra time, I am taking some online training to learn new massage info to help you on the other side of this!
Take care. 🤗

I am happy to announce that I now accept Venmo!! It is a payment app for your cell phone. Let me know if you can't find me.

GROUPON?? It is not me that you are looking for. Unfortunately, a guy by the name Josh Hughes in South Portland renamed his business to a near identical name to my business. I don't believe his phone is currently active. I would contact Groupon for help &/or a refund. Take care. Charlene

3 Ways to Cope With Holiday Stress

While it’s called the "season of joy," this time of year can be busy and taxing. Research shows that massage therapy can help relieve stress and improve your overall health this holiday season and all year-round.

1. Stick with your daily health routine:
Deviating too much from your normal routine can add to your stress. Go easy on the holiday sweets and follow a balanced diet. Exercise regularly to help maintain your energy level during a busier schedule.
2. Don’t overextend yourself:
Allow yourself to say 'no' during the holidays. Doing more than you have the time or energy for is another way to add to your holiday stress level.
3. Take a me moment to get a massage 😊:
According to research, massage therapy can be effective for stress relief. Research shows that massage therapy can relieve stress significantly on physical and psychological levels including decreased blood pressure and heart rate as well significant changes in emotional states.

Here is something to think about: 30% of our lungs are behind the spine!! That would be why when your back is tight, you can have difficulty breathing.

08/20/2015

I have clipped this from a blog written by Kerry Jordan, LMT. I apologize for the length, but it is really a nice message.

"I want to scream from a mountaintop:
YOUR BODY IS NOT THE STUPID CAR YOUR BRAIN DRIVES AROUND!

Four of our five senses reside in our head, so I guess it makes sense that we think that’s where it’s at. Taste, smell, sight, hearing, all in your head. But touch…aah, touch is everywhere. The vast majority of information coming into your brain, the stuff that is forming your conscious and unconscious life, is coming from your sense of touch (feeling) inside and outside of your body.

The surface of your skin is the surface of your brain – embryologically, physiologically. Those “gut” feelings? Those are actual neurological feelings from your enteric nerves, evolutionarily-speaking the oldest (and wisest?) part of your nervous system.

Your body is never unnecessary, never useless. Even a body wracked with illness and pain is a good body.

And every body is a potential source of joy, of pleasure, of connection.

Place your hand over your heart. Feel that? You are alive.
Touch your skin. That’s you!
Touch someone else’s skin. Do it! (Why should we massage therapists have all the fun?)
No words are needed.
Go press the surface of your brain against the surface of someone else’s brain. Gently. Sweetly.
Hi, you. This is me. This is your body. This is my body. Isn’t this good? Isn’t this necessary?"

Please let me know what you think.

Above all, massage reminds us what it is like to feel good, and we often desperately need that reminder.

Dalai Lama

A lovely thought.

As human beings we each have a responsibility to care for humanity. Expressing concern for others brings inner strength and deep satisfaction. As social animals, human beings need friendship, but friendship doesn’t come from wealth and power, but from showing compassion and concern for others.
