Healthcare seems to be in the forefront of minds this November. Many folks are assessing one health plan or another and comparing two or more health plans. Make sure you know the terms being used and what they mean, especially when it means more money coming out of your own pocket in addition to your monthly premium. Another good thing to ask, or investigate, is knowing the difference between what a referral is versus a prior authorization. A referral is mostly needed with HMO plans. This means your primary care physician (P*P) needs to send a request for you to be seen by a specialist physician. A prior authorization is a process where a health insurance company reviews and approves a healthcare service or medication before it is provided to the patient. This is done to ensure that the service or medication is: medically necessary, cost-effective and compliant with your policy. Best advice is to fully read the policy, not just the benefit summary chart. Happy November!!!

It's time to enjoy Autumn in New England!!! Just because the temps may be a bit lower than they were a month or two ago, does not mean you are relinquished to being indoors. Dress in layers if needed and get out there! Enjoy some fall sports whether you play or go watch a high school or college game or two, go on some hikes (short or long, flat or elevated) or try some apple picking!

As everyone heads back to work and/or school, we thought it was a good idea to remind everyone about good posture. Please support your head or arms when looking at your phone as much as you can. You head weight goes up higher and higher the more forward your head is in relationship to your shoulders. Desk sitting is very important for your posture.
