Successfully Manage Diabetes and Live Life to the Fullest

Join us for a deep-dive into everything you need to know about diabetes. And most importantly, let’s make a plan for what you can do to manage diabetes and not let it manage you! In this two-part class, we’ll cover the basics. We’ll also talk in detail about blood sugar monitoring and medications to help you better understand WHY these things can be necessary for successful diabetes management.

Who Should Attend:
This class series is for anyone with a diagnosis of diabetes who wants to take charge of their health. Session two builds on the content from session one, so participation in both sessions is required.

When:
Session 1: November 20th, 5:30 PM - 7:30 PM
Session 2: December 11th, 5:30 PM - 7:30 PM

In honor of World Alzheimer's Day, here are 10 Healthy
Habits for your Brain from

1. Challenge your brain- Try a new skill and put your brain to work!
2. Continue learning- education reduces the disk of cognitive decline, stay in school or take a class in person or online!
3. Get moving- engaging in daily movement increases blood flow to your brain
4. Protect your head- Wear a helmet and prevent falls, especially in older adults
5. Be smoke-free- quitting smoking can lower the risk or cognitive decline back to similar levels to those who have not smoked. It's never too late to quit!
6. Control your blood pressure- work with a health care provider to manage blood pressure through medication and/or diet and exercise
7. Manage diabetes- Type 2 diabetes can be prevented or controlled through lifestyle modification
8. Eat a balanced diet- vegetables, fruits, lean proteins and whole grains
9. Maintain a healthy weight- work with a health care provider t determine what a healthy weight is for you
10. Sleep well- good quality sleep is important for brain health
