💛 It’s Giving Tuesday!

Thanks to the kindhearted supporters of the Maine Children’s Cancer Program (MCCP), we’re able to provide the care that kids here in Maine—and in surrounding states—deserve. This means keeping them close to home and with their families. And that wouldn’t be possible without generosity from people like you!

Choosing MCCP this Giving Tuesday means choosing to fight childhood cancer and blood disorders for the children in our communities: https://fundraising.mmc.org/mccp-donate-now 🎗️

Thank you for helping us get one step closer to a cure!

Our good friend and longtime supporter of Maine Children’s Cancer Program, Matthew Rogers, has written a book—and he’s also generously donating a portion of the proceeds to MCCP to help kids in Maine win their battles against childhood cancer and blood disorders.

A little about Matt: he is a lifelong Mainer, as well as a husband, father, coach, mentor, public speaker, investment advisor, and now...author! His debut book, The Recipe for Being a Great Coach, dives into leadership, teamwork, and what it truly means to bring out the best in others. Join us in celebrating Matt at his debut book launch event!

🌟 Staff Spotlight 🌟

Meet Kelly Hannigan, one of our amazing Certified Child Life Specialists here at Maine Children’s Cancer Program!

Kelly has been with MCCP for 3 years and loves her position as a Child Life Specialist because she gets to help kids find courage, play, and peace in places that can feel scary. Watching them discover their strength is the most rewarding part of her job.

When she’s not at MCCP helping in any way she can, she’s spending time with her husband and daughter and preparing for the new addition to the family—a baby boy!

Mt. Ararat High School hosted the 11th annual Drive-Out Cancer pre-season field hockey tournament Saturday, August 30th and it was a day to remember. 🏑

Eight teams came together not just to compete, but to raise awareness and funds for Maine Children’s Cancer Program. This year’s event was dedicated to a Mt. Ararat sophomore and teammate who is in remission after bravely battling stage four lymphoma.

Thanks to the incredible support from players, families, and fans, the tournament raised over $12,500 for MCCP. Incredible work! 🎗️

The runners of Team MCCP hit the pavement, raised funds, and proved that they made every mile count! Let’s give them a round of applause for all the hard work they put in this summer—training for race day and going the extra mile to raise funds for the kiddos who rely on the wraparound care we provide here at Maine Children’s Cancer Program.

Thank you to everyone who ran with Team MCCP and to all who supported them! The community that stands behind MCCP never ceases to amaze us! 🎗️

Our Story

The Maine Children’s Cancer Program (MCCP) provides integrated, comprehensive, clinical research based medical care and psychosocial and practical support to infants, children, and adolescents with cancer and blood disorders throughout the state of Maine and southern New Hampshire. With five pediatric hematology/oncology physicians, a team of specialized nurses, social workers, and research associates, MCCP strives to not only cure cancer in as many children as possible but also support families through their experience of living with childhood cancer. The Maine Children’s Cancer Program has a goal of helping to keep cancer from getting in the way of letting kids be kids! On our page, the purpose of our “Worthy Fact Wednesdays” is to provide you with weekly bits of information to educate yourself on childhood cancer and the facts behind the fight. The purpose of profiling our past patients, staff, and volunteers is to bring forward those involved in MCCP and their stories to introduce you to the faces behind the fight.
