Happy Halloween!!

We hope that everyone has a safe and fun Halloween! As much as Halloween creates a time for communities to come together and celebrate, we would like to recognize that some may find their anxieties and fears are increased by the Holiday. Unfortunately, when it comes to dressing up, people tend to stigmatize mental health, and perpetuate the idea that mental health is scary by choosing costumes that illustrate it as so.

Whether horror movies, costumes, or feeling an extra need to belong as groups gather to celebrate cause your uneasiness, we hope that you can find a safe space to enjoy what you can. Remember, we are always one phone call away.

Stay warm!

How to stop the myths that mental illness is scary.

As more and more people go off to college, it's good to bring awareness to certain issues that may arise while on campus. The Red Zone Campaign dedicates itself to shedding light on college sexual violence.

Unfortunately, with parties, events, and the multitude of people coming and going throughout the campus, you are left more susceptible to crossing paths with people who choose to harm you. We hope not to cause fear or paranoia, but to always understand your surroundings. If you see or feel something that isn't right, it's always best to trust yourself, regardless of if your pupils say otherwise. Your safety comes first.

To know more, we have linked the Red Zone Campaign to this post. And of course, our practice is always one phone call away.

The Red Zone is the time of year, taking place from the beginning of the fall semester to the beginning of Thanksgiving Break, when the majority of college campus sexual assaults happen. Through education and awareness, we can shatter the silence and create a campus culture free of sexual violence.

As July comes to an end, and we have a little over a month of the summer season left, let's understand how our mindsets change throughout the year. Psychology Today writes that as seasons change, we do too. Different responsibilities, weather fluctuations, and change overall can seriously affect how we feel. So, let's take a dive into understanding these changes so that we can help ourselves accordingly!

Seasons cause changes in more than just our mood.

We are coming close to the end of July; however, we wanted to shed light on this Month's mental health awareness for Bipoc. It is enough of a struggle in dealing with mental health as is. We hope to eliminate the racial and cultural barriers that exist so that people may receive proper care.

It is our duty as healthcare workers to ensure that discrimination, cultural taboos, inaccessibility, and other barriers are no longer factors when it comes to helping ourselves and others. Core Psychotherapy Center is here to lend a hand to those who need it at any time. Help us help you!
