📵 Step away from screens
📓 Journal your thoughts or make a simple to-do list
🤍 Remind yourself: you don’t have to do it all

Feeling distracted or overwhelmed? Step outside — and really be there.

Here’s how:
👣 Feel your feet connect with the ground
👀 Notice colors, shapes, and movement around you
👂 Listen closely—birds, wind, leaves, distant sounds
💨 Take 3 slow, deep breaths
🤲 Let go of thoughts, and just observe

Even 5 minutes of mindful presence in nature can calm the nervous system, lift your mood, and clear mental fog.

Let the outdoors bring you back to now. 🌳🧠

Sunlight triggers the brain to release serotonin — your natural mood booster. It helps you feel calm, focused, and happy.

Less sunlight = less serotonin = lower mood.
More sun = brighter brain + better day.

Just 10–20 minutes of sunlight a day helps your body make vitamin D — essential for mood, memory, and mental clarity.

Low vitamin D? It can lead to:
• Brain fog
• Fatigue
• Low mood
• Increased risk of cognitive decline

Combine sunlight with a short walk or outdoor stretch for even more benefits. Worried about your Vitamin D levels? Give our office a call at (847) 558- 6160.

Mindfulness isn’t just sitting still — it’s about being present. These outdoor activities offer fresh air, stress relief, and a cognitive reset:

• Fishing – A peaceful way to slow down, breathe, and focus on the rhythm of nature. Perfect for calming the nervous system.
• Gardening – Digging in the dirt and tending to plants is deeply grounding and can improve mood, memory, and even sleep.
• Nature Photography – Bring your camera or phone, and walk with the intention to notice. Capture textures, light, and color — a visual way to stay present.
• Outdoor Sketching or Journaling – Sit in a quiet spot and draw or write what you see, hear, and feel. It’s a simple but powerful mindfulness ritual.
• Forest Bathing (Shinrin-yoku) – No agenda, no pace. Just immerse yourself in a wooded area and absorb the sights, sounds, and smells.

Being in nature + practicing presence = a happier, healthier brain. 💬 Which of these would you try this week?
