❤️ Your heart has a story — and an EKG helps tell it!

An EKG or ECG (electrocardiogram) is a simple, quick, and painless test that measures the electrical activity of your heart — the tiny electrical signals that trigger each heartbeat. It provides a “snapshot” of how your heart is functioning in real time.

Here’s what it’s commonly used for 👇
🩺 1. Checking your heart rhythm
An EKG can show whether your heartbeat is regular, too fast, too slow, or irregular (such as with atrial fibrillation.)

⚡ 2. Detecting heart attacks (past or current)
An EKG can reveal evidence of a heart attack that’s happening right now or one that occurred in the past by showing patterns of damage to the heart muscle.

❤️ 3. Identifying electrical or structural abnormalities
An EKG helps detect issues with the heart’s electrical conduction system, chamber enlargement, or electrolyte imbalances (like potassium or calcium).

💊4. Monitoring heart health over time
Doctors use EKGs to track changes in your heart over time or to check the effects of medications, pacemakers, or treatments.

Talk to your provider about your EKG at your next visit or schedule an appointment with one of our cardiologists today!

💡 Wellness Wednesday: Adjusting to Shorter Days 💓

As daylight hours decrease, it’s common to feel more tired, sluggish, or even down — but your heart still needs routine care and movement. Try these tips to stay healthy and energized:

☀️ Maximize natural light – Open blinds early, sit near windows, or step outside during lunch. Sunlight helps regulate your body clock and mood.

🏃‍♀️ Stay active indoors – If evening walks are harder, switch to morning strolls, treadmill sessions, or at-home workouts.

🕯️ Create a relaxing nighttime routine – Limit screens an hour before bed; try reading or stretching to promote better sleep.

🍲 Eat for energy – Choose balanced meals with lean proteins, whole grains, and heart-healthy fats (like salmon, nuts, and avocado).

💬 Stay connected – Shorter days can feel isolating. Check in with friends or family — social connection is good for your heart, too.

✨ A little light goes a long way — for your heart, mind, and body! ✨
