The first patient of the PRESERVE study (Pivotal Study of the NanoKnife System for Ablation of Prostate Tissue in an Intermediate-Risk Patient Population) has been treated. Led by Dr. Jonathan Coleman at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and Dr. Arvin George at the University of Michigan, this trial will evaluate the use of AngioDynamics’ NanoKnife System for ablation of prostate tissue as a focal therapy option for prostate cancer patients.

The SUO is again accepting applications for the 2022 EAU Exchange Scholar Program. This program provides an opportunity for urologic oncologists within eight years of completing fellowship training to apply for a two week scholarly visit to an institution in Europe. Exchange scholars will expand their knowledge in global urologic healthcare and facilitate collaboration between members of both organizations.

The SUO will sponsor one YUO member per year to visit a European institution to learn a new technique, technology, or method in clinical practice, translational research, or basic research science. The visit will last two weeks and coincide with the Annual EAU Congress in March. The exchange scholar will receive complimentary registration to attend the Congress.

Applications are due October 15. Please note, the award may be postponed to 2023 if necessary, based on international travel restrictions.

In conjunction with the AUA 2021 Annual Meeting, the SUO AUA/Spring Meetings will be held virtually on Saturday, September 11 as previously scheduled from 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Pacific Time (11:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. Eastern).

Presentations will be broadcasted to attendees using the AUA’s virtual meeting platform, while speakers and attendees can communicate through Chat or Q&A functions.

Afterward, the program will remain available for on-demand viewing until December 31, 2021.

Attendees must be registered for AUA2021 in order to participate in the SUO AUA/Spring Meeting. Please check the AUA2021 website for information on virtual registration options.

We are now accepting applications for the SUO Visiting Professorship Grant Program. This initiative provides up to two $3,000 grants annually to an ACGME-approved urology residency program in the United States or Canada.

Due to the changing circumstances from COVID, applications with virtual professorships will be accepted.
