When something feels unjust or harmful, inaction can fuel despair. Taking values-aligned action — whether it’s advocacy, mutual aid, or community support — strengthens resilience and supports psychological wellness. We’re watching national conversations about enforcement, accountability, and transparency. In this moment, choosing connection and collective action isn’t just activism — it’s mental health care.

If you feel overwhelmed or disoriented by what’s happening, look for ways to support causes that reflect your values — share reliable information, contact representatives, show up with compassion, and build community support systems. Change is a process, and you matter in it.

🌿 Pathways to Peace Featured by Mental Health America of Illinois 🌿

We’re honored to see Inner Peace Psychological Care’s Pathways to Peace program highlighted by Mental Health America of Illinois in their article “Access denied: Opening the door to mental health treatment.” 📣✨

In the piece, Dr. Kailyn Bobb, co-owner of Inner Peace Psychological Care, speaks to the systemic and financial barriers that prevent many individuals from accessing mental health care—even when the need is urgent. She emphasizes how cost, insurance limitations, and provider shortages disproportionately affect marginalized and underserved communities, often forcing people to delay or forgo care altogether.

Pathways to Peace was created in direct response to these barriers. The program offers reduced-fee therapy provided by master’s-level clinicians under licensed supervision, with the goal of making care more accessible, sustainable, and rooted in dignity—not privilege.

This feature reflects our ongoing commitment to equity, access, and community-centered care, and to advocating for systems that meet people where they are. 🌱

We have spoken before about the issue of stigma in mental health. Time was that this was the greatest obstacle to individuals getting the support they need. And while stigma can still be an issue – particularly in rural communities – it’s not as much of a problem as it once was. The American P...

Goals vs. Values (Especially in Hard Times)

Goals are specific outcomes.
They’re things you work toward, complete, or check off.

Values are ongoing directions.
They describe how you want to live and show up, even when the world is heavy.

When circumstances are tough or uncertain, goals can start to feel overwhelming or out of reach. That’s not a reflection of your effort or commitment — it’s a reflection of the moment we’re in.

Values don’t disappear under pressure.
They give us something steady to return to.

You might not meet today’s goals.
You can still live your values.

Gentleness. Care. Integrity. Connection.
Those count — especially now.

Communication doesn’t belong to just one person.

It’s shaped by context, timing, nervous systems, lived experience—and the space between people.

As we move into the new year, it can be helpful to release the pressure to always communicate perfectly or be fully understood on the first try. Instead, communication works best when responsibility is shared—when everyone involved is willing to slow down, check in, and revisit conversations when needed.

A shared-responsibility approach to communication might include:
• Expressing needs as clearly as we can, knowing clarity evolves
• Asking questions when something feels confusing or incomplete
• Noticing when stress or overwhelm is shaping how we speak or listen
• Allowing room for repair when misunderstandings happen

This kind of communication isn’t about blame or perfection.
It’s about collaboration, curiosity, and mutual respect—values we return to again and again in therapy and in our work together.

Have you heard of body doubling?

Our very own Dr. Kailyn Bobb created a 25-minute body-doubling session to support focus, task initiation, and follow-through—especially helpful for ADHD brains.

Body doubling is a simple strategy where you work alongside someone else (virtually counts!) to make tasks feel less overwhelming. This video follows the Pomodoro technique: 25 minutes of focused work followed by a 5-minute break. Dr. Bobb works quietly alongside you, starts the timer, and a bell signals when it’s time to pause and reset.

This can be a helpful tool for studying, work tasks, cleaning, or anything that’s been hard to get started.

Sometimes getting started is easier when you’re not doing it alone. 💛
